School kids are the most obsessed by it i'd say, it no doubt causes wide-spread arguements every year, because male partners think it's a waste of money(becaue they're tight) and female partners expect some sort of effort (other than a crude card and the ubiquitous deisel roses) And of course it can cause some embarrassment if some unsuitable person uses it as a way to make a first move on you. So, to conclude! i'd say it's the most pain in the arse date of the year! and if my PC fixing friend sends me a card, as i'm horribly afraid he will, i shall kill him! evil

Wow Peaches... I'm kinda glad I'm waaaaay over here on this side of the world when you get that card from your "friend"... *cough* ... *cough*!!
I am married and although we usually celebrate Vday with *something*, it's not always elaborate. Yes, I think it's important to take every opportunity to tell that special somebody that they are special, and Valentine's is just a sort of universal reminder to do that. Is it overdone? Absolutely. Do the young and unattached tend to obsess over it? Yes. Is it just another silly opportunity to throw money out the window? Ohhhh yeah! Is it more hassle than it's worth? Depends on your goal. And the goal, IMHO, should be to appreciate the special person in your life, if you are lucky enough to have found them.
heart Happy Valentine's Day. heart

WickedPeaches the ubiquitous deisel roses
Jelly was the one who taught me never to buy petrol (gas) station flowers 3nodding 3nodding 3nodding WickedPeaches And of course it can cause some embarrassment if some unsuitable person uses it as a way to make a first move on you. i have been guilty of this in the past....with a married lady from work exclaim WickedPeaches and if my PC fixing friend sends me a card, as i'm horribly afraid he will, i shall kill him! evil Don't be too hard on the lad Peachy...he likes you and he wants to show it... confused

but he knows i'm not interested so he should behave himself! Brought me flowers last time he came to visit, even though i told him quite plainly that i like them growing outside not dying indoors. that's why i'm afraid he'll send me a card, even though i said 'i bloody well hope not' when he asked if i thought i'd get any cards, and whether i liked Valentine's Day or not, and whether i wanted to get any cards etc etc scream
then he asks if i'm ready for another visit yet!! don't think so...
