"What's over here?" "It's just a bunch of doors."
A pair of toddlers, one lightly tanned, and walking with purpose, the other clad in black with a pink bowtie and walking with more curiosity, haphazardly made their way down a hall in the main building of the Meta Academy. For every ten steps the first made, the second took seven, then three back, and two forward again, until, at length, they were nearly at opposite ends of the hallway from each other.
"JA NI TOR, ... Who's that," said the darker one, with his finger lodged firmly in his mouth, between his teeth.
"It's the guy who cleans," came the reply, several doors away. "That's his job."
"A.J.,", the darker one said, "You're supposed to stay with me."A.J's brunette head of hair had turned to look around a corner, to see what he could see, before he was reminded by his darker companion.
"Yeah, and daddy said we weren't supposed to go off alone either," A.J. said half-skipping back.
"But that's why you came with me,"
"C.J. ..."

Hinote was wandering around the school, trying to get a feel for the building, when she came upon two toddlers in a hallway. She wasn't entirely sure where they were supposed to be, but she was pretty sure that kids that young weren't supposed to be wandering the academy on their own.
She stopped, pulled up her kneesocks as she felt them slip down, and looked around. No sign of any adults, then.
"Um, little boy, boys, where are you're parents? Or, whoever is supposed to be watching you."

C.J. nearly swallowed his finger as the stranger approached. He took a few steps back and looked up at her with his big eyes. He said nothing as far as words go, but the little noises he made gave A.J. more than enough to fill a couple pages. C.J.'s brother stepped in front of him, looking the older girl square in the eyes.
"Daddy said we're not supposed to talk to strangers," A.J. said in a nearly sing-song voice. His posture betrayed the musical reply he made as he held his arms slightly away from his body, obscuring more of C.J. behind him. If C.J. could have, he would have faded into A.J.'s personal shadow and disappear from sight, it seemed.
C.J. shrunk behind A.J. as much as he could while still being able to see the older blue haired girl. He removed his finger from his mouth after a moment. "They're by the front door, talking....," he said.
A.J. shot him a dirty look over his shoulder.

"We-ell, you're right. You shouldn't talk to strangers, but you also shouldn't wander around the school alone. You two are too little for this kind of thing. So you should probably get back to the front door."
Hinote didn't want them to get hurt or lost or anything, but she didn't really know how to herd them back to their parents, either. So she settled for tugging her knee socks back up and looking at the little boys.
