I'm surprised nobody has posted about this yet but we all know how our favorite franchise has slowly downgraded through the years after Team Silent disbanded I never knew it would sink to this level. Don't get me wrong unlike some I deeply enjoyed origins and homecoming but shattered memories felt like a completely different franchise. It took the Silent out of Silent Hill (and my weapons!!!! scream ) Though I am greatly excited for Downpour which is to be released in October of this year and looking forward to another great SH game that can hopefully get the franchise back on track I am greatly dissapointed to announce this might not happen soon as Konami announced a new SH game for the PlaystationVita titled Silent Hill: Book of Memories. This game will feature multiplayer elements and possibly returning characters. This might hammer in the last nail on the coffin if Downpour does not meet up to it's expectations (but I'm sure it will biggrin ) But Book of Memories completely takes the terror and feeling of being alone right out of Silent Hill.

Shattered Memories is a great game. It has more silent in it than The Room.
There is nothing wrong with making something different, everybody complains that its too different. Or because there are no weapons, and there is a reason for that, you just have to really understand the plot and the basis of the game. That its more of a psicological thriller than a survival horror game. Some people might not undestand it cause of all the psicological stuff, but to those who do understand it its an ejoyable experience. Nothing last forever, game franchises change. And besides, it be boring if EVERY silent hill game was the same.

While we're on the topic of shattered memories it is a bad game in my own opinion of course. biggrin Mainly because I played the first game and stupid Climax Studios decided to tear the living crap out of it. And honestly I don't know how some people can say it's a Silent Hill game because it's not it just doesn't have that Silent Hill feel. I liked The Room because even though it was a completely different entry on it's own compared to the previous games. It still held some connections to them but mainly stayed connected to the previous titles by connecting and adding on to the mythology of Silent Hill. Shattered Memories failed in every aspect of that way and this new multiplayer one will probably make me and alot of other fans rage over it this new way they are trying to market and milk this glorious franchise.

There can be no compromise between multiplayer and Silent Hill and expect a pleasent ending from the fans. It's not in any way what the game is about, but its judgement will pass in due time. As for Shattered Memories, it did more than redefine the first game. It tried and, in my opinion, failed to provide a sense of dread adequate to the previous installments. Telling me to run from every problem is only simplifying my choices. It's quite easy to understand "oh a monster, time to run". When carrying a weapon, not only do you get the freedom to fight or flight, but it puts the player on edge in ANTICIPATION of when that next moment appears. I won't be the first to admit, I've swung plenty a rusty pipe at Eileen for sneaking up behind me from nowhere.

Which brings me to The Room, which I'll defend forever more till I die, because, in my opinion, this was the last REALLY worthy installment since things began to decline. Our latest hope lies in Downpour, and I hope its name is all that is implied and nothing more. The Room supplied more than enough unforseen horrors and jumps, all while remaining true to the story and keeping its connections mentioned through silent hill 2. It's a challenge to create a game from scrap, its even more so to make it revolved around another story.
