Here I'll try to post once a day or so a daily meditation. First I'll draw from the book 365 Yoga: Daily Meditations by Julie Rappaport. Post anything you'd like. I'd prefer to try and start a discussion here, but anything remotely relevant is welcome. ^_^ I welcome alternate daily meditations too, for a wider variety.

Invocation to Patanjali

Yogena cittasya padena vacam
Malamasrirasya ca vaidyakena
Yoparottam pravaram muninam
Patanjalim pranjalirana tosmi

Ababu purushakaram
sankhacakrasiharinam
Sahasrasirasam svetam

Shrimate Anataya Nagarajaya
Namo Namah

To the noblest of sages, Patanjali.
Who gave Yoga for serenity of mind,
Grammar for purity of speech,
and Medicine for perfection of the body, I bow.
I prostrate myself before Patanjali
Whose Upper body has a human form,
Whose arms hold a conch and a disc,
Who is crowned by a thousand-headed cobra,
O incarnation of Adisesa, my salutations to thee.

I love this idea. I actually used to do a daily Star Trek meditation! How geeky am I? They were pretty good. I have been pulling a card every day from Brian Froud's Heart of the Faerie oracle. I read tarot cards and thought if I pulled something not a tarot card to meditate on I might get something out of it. It has been pretty interesting. I have only been at it a week or so.

I would try to do a yoga mediation every day, if I can get to it before work, or all the other stuff I do. I might bribe somebody into doing it with me, on the days I am with her when I am on Gaia early. There may be time in the afternoons as well, I hope.

Yay, Star Trek meditations! And oh, I like that idea, the one about pulling a card every day. I might have to do that myself now. whee

I pulled a card from my Rider-Waite deck just now and got Temperance reversed. In this case it's telling me to not overindulge today.

I need to find myself a nice spot to meditate...wherever I go people find me and interupt me and then I just can't get back into the ryhthm of things...

Today's meditation:

Who am I who speaks, walks, stands, and functions on this elaborate stage known as the world? I should find this out.

Today's meditation:

Om saba navavatu. Saba nau bhunaktu.
Saba viryam karavavahai. Tejasvinavadhitamastu.
Ma vidvisavahai
Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti!

Taittiriya Upanishad

Om. May we both be protected. May we both enjoy the fruits of scriptual study. May we both exert together to find the true meaning of the sacred text. May our studies be fruitful. May we never quarrel with each other.
Om Peace, Peace, Peace!
