Ulman was born in Volgograd, Russia, as the son of one of the absolute best Zoids mechanics of the time, a Josef Gregorovich. His mother had unfortunately died shortly after his birth in an accident at the hospital where she worked, when a compressed air tank exploded, killing her and another nurse.
He grew up relatively normally, working with his father in his shop, which catered more toward mercenaries and bounty hunters, the hired gun types, due to the fact that Josef's services were cheap and all encompassing: from installing weapon systems to new paintjobs, Gregorovich and Son did it all.
When war came around, he did what he wanted to do...channel the clientele of his father's store, and become a merc himself. He trained for weeks before applying, training out on the steppes north of Volgograd, until he became an accomplished pilot, at least, good enough to get a job with the OA, as it were.
...But I Must Warn You:
An incredibly cheerful man, Ulman rarely is down. He's always laughing and smiling and telling jokes, trying to keep his comrade's spirits up. He hates seeing anyone down or depressed, almost as much as he hates the heat.
