When I was in sixth grade my dad bought me a $200 helmkey single horn. Needless to say the horn sucked, and I was happy when my director upgraded me to a double.

Six years later the horn was still in my room, collecting dust. So today I had a little party....AND WE SMASHED THE EVIL THING TO BITS!

The only thing that keeps this from being sacrilege is the fact that I would cry if someone ever did this against my holton. Now that is a beautiful horn.

Has anyone else had a instrument smashing experience, good or bad, and if so describe it.

Oh. My. God. Somehow, the mere thought of this brings tears to my eyes. D': Tch, you had very good reasons to though. Curse the bloody thing. >D

Well, After a concert, I was fiddling around with my saxophone, just randomly sitting in the band room after everyone left. All of the sudden, the sound went all funny. I got really irritated about it [keep in mind, these were my pre-medication days, lol] and kept adjusting my reed to make it sound better. After literally thirty seconds I started that, I took off the mouthpiece and threw it at the wall as hard as I could. I swear to god, it looked like it exploded as it hit the wall. Made me start laughing like crazy.

It was about then that my mom came to find me because I hadn't met up with her yet. I got into so much trouble for that. All I can say now though, looking back on it, is that at least the mouthpiece was a cheap one. ^^; And the mouthpiece had been the problem.....either that or I just wasn't playing it right because I was kinda tired. >.> That was like, a three-hour long concert, and I played with most of the groups.

one of our sousaphones got run over by a truck...it was really sad. the other tubas learned how to play taps right there and we had a funeral for it. then it turned into a band inside joke. too bad we couldn't make it too public since it was the vice principal's son...made a great halftime show though!

i rarely never had the unlucky experience of being stuck playing a single horn smile my music teacher started me on a double from the start. although sometimes wen i left my instrument at home i was stuck playing this 10 year old single hor that was soooooo rusty it made your fingers smell like pennies xD

my lovely SCHOOL horn has BIG dent in it that I have been charged with fixed said dent. I have somehow crinkled my holt's bell. My director was furious because my district doesn't have much money for purchasing and repairing the instruments it owns. I have to use a mallet and a cloth to fix it. crying
