Background History:
Mei was born into a very literate, wealthy family within the Uchiha clan. She lived with her mother, father and her mother's sister Eriko, and having no siblings, she found it as a rather peaceful existence. As she grew up, her mother taught her initiate knowledge and increased her book smarts, while her father taught her things such as fighting, sword wielding, etc. However her skill always appeared to be under average. Where her aunt taught her how to cook, clean and basic things to be able to provide for herself. Her father was a jounin ranked shinobi, and he worked long ago as a Konoha gate guard until he retired shortly after she was born. He was constantly pushing her, training her to be the best and training her until she practically sweat blood. Her mother, never had time to listen to her nor understood her. She was registered into the academy when she was quite young, and found it a struggle to make friends and fit in, as she had a pale complexion, and was alot weaker and smaller than those of her age. Her shyness got the better of her, and she became a victim of not only psychical abuse but mental abuse, her peers finding her weak and a total nuscience. Her father became weary of her, aware that she wasn't pushing herself or showing her ability.

He impatiences lessened, and he began pushing her even further, well beyond her limits, until she either collapsed from exhaustion or blood loss. Even the smallest of wounds were affecting her, unable to stop bleeding. Her father and mother appeared indifferent, but her aunt showed care and love towards her. Eriko, being a medic, diagnosed her as having hemophilia, something she gained from her mothers side. Mei grew weaker and weaker, her tiny body frail and unable to carry out her father's wishes. Her father became enraged. "No child of mine will be weak and pathetic like you! Her Sharigan hasn't even activated!" He would spit. Her mother would say nothing, almost look guilty. She would look apon her with animosity and contempt, as if Mei was a mistake. That's what Mei thought she was. A mistake. Unimportant. Unwanted. Her aunt, however, would often come to her aid, defending her from those monsters called 'parents'. "She's just a child!" She could cry, tightly wrapping her arms around a cold faced Mei as if to protect her from the reprimanding. "You shouldn't be pushing her so hard!"

"Oh yeah? And what would you know! Forget it. She's pathetic. Nothing but a nuscience." He would say, glaring with hot white eyes at his ten year old daughter. "She's doing terribly in the academy. What a joke. Never in the history of our clan have we had such a failure!" He would scream, only to be berated by Eriko. "She's sick, Kyon! How could you be so cold towards you own daughter!" Mei wouldn't say anything. She would just stare at the ground, wishing she could just disappear from this life. This world. Her father, in rage, would stalk over to her and strike her full blast across the face, so hard it would leave marks on her skin and send her skidding backwards, the only thing she could hear, Eriko screams against the monster they called a father. She would just sit there, clench her fist, tears rolling down her cheeks, and shoved past everyone and just get away from them. She could hear her family all shouting to eachother. She would sit there, rocking back and forwards, teeth clenched, hands to her ears, as if to block out the pain. But she knew that would be impossible.

Eriko would usually find her later, siting outside on the porch, her white face bleached with the pale shades of the moon. "Mei, honey..." She would, coming to sit beside her. And she would wrap her in a hug, her arms pressing hard against her frail body. "I won't let them hurt you... Ever again..." She would say in a soft whisper. The tears poured like a waterfall over Mai's flawless pale skin. But she never would do anything about it. "Your lying." Mei would reply softly, her voice like a bell.

Her father became an alcoholic. He drank profusely each night, and took his anger out on his "daughter", beating her merciless every night until she was none other than a quivering bloody mess. Eriko would run to her aid, cure her wounds, but she wondered if she really cared. If she did, she would do something about. She would bit deeply into her lip, tears rolling down her cheeks, muttering the words "I'm sorry I'm sorry, Mei," over and over again. But Mei wouldn't listen. She would lay back, eyes rolling to the back of her head, every fibre of her body aching. He wouldn't dare hit her face. He didn't want to give people reason to be suspicious. Of course, her mother never knew of these beatings. Even if she did, she wouldn't care. No one cared about her. She was completely and utterly alone. Her father would beat her even when he wasn't drunk, but the beatings were worse when he was drunk. And the only thing Mei would think, was I deserve this. I deserve this. I'm useless. I have no place in this world. No one cares. I'm surrounded by shadows and darkness.

She still attended the academy, having no choice by her father. She did graduate, when she was twelve years old. Her father just spat and said, "An Uchiha has never graduated that old. You disgust me." And then he would leave and get drunk, that guilt weighing on him about him being the father of such a pathetic child and disappointment to the clan. But then he thought, she couldn't be mine. She couldn't be! And that question rang true. That night, drunk, he came home, and Mei, cowering on her bedroom floor, too fear stricken to go sleep. She was surprised he didn't come up and beat her like he usually does. Instead she heard arguing. Between her mother and father. Her father was screaming, her mother screaming back. Then Eriko would join in, asking what everyone was screaming about. "She's not my child! Now, tell me if you've been whoring around behind my back!" He would hiss. Her mother would stare at him, fury and deceit shielded behind her red eyes. Mei looked like her. She had her eyes and hair colour. She looked nothing like her father. But still, her mother shook her head and replied, "She IS yours!" But the way she said it made it sound like she wasn't even sure herself. Her father sensed this. "She's NOT my child! I wouldn't bare such a pathetic being! And she doesn't look anything like me!" He would scream, and amongst the roaring voices I heard pounding amongst the stairs. Eriko would burst into my room, her eyes wild and fear stricken. She would take her in her arms, embrace her, trying to protect her. But it wouldn't work. Mei knew she wasn't wanted. Loved. If she really loved her, she would defend her. Her sharigan had activated shortly after words, but her father had lost all hope in her. "It's too late for you," he would spit. She trained by herself after. Pushing herself to her limits every day and night, even being placed on a genin team to which she was completely emotionally detached. They didn't exist to her. Were unimportant. All that mattered was to get stronger.

She hadn't eaten in a weak. Eriko begged her to eat something, but if she did, it would sliver up her throat again, her stomach rejecting it. She hadn't slept in almost a month. She was fourteen when her mother died. More so, mother was killed. Her mother killed herself, after admitting that Mei wasn't Kyon's child. That gave him more the reason to attack her. She was the subject of adultery, evil. She was the production of evil. Strangly enough, Mei didn't care. Infact, she was glad. She felt empty inside, a long empty vast of darkness harnested inside of her. Eriko still tried to protect her, but she was still a coward. Unable to actually do anything. Shortly after, she took the chuunin exams. Her new found craving to spill blood from all the pain she suffered in her life came in handy. She had killed two participants in order to proceed. She even passed, and was promoted to chuunin. They admitted she had a distinctive fighting style, which in some ways was frightening. She grew more and more cold towards Eriko, even as she approached her she would say things like, "Stay away from me." Or "You are of no use to me now." But Eriko remained unconvinced. She would grab her wrist and spin her around. "Mei. TALK to me. What's going on with you! Is this about your mother?" She would ask, almost hysterical. Mei would just glare at her with dark, red eyes. "What?" She would hiss. "Your think this is because of that witch? She's a whore, nothing more." She snared. "Don't talk about your mother like that! She loved you, no matter what!" Mei would snare and snap her wrist free of her grasp. Then her three tomoe would activate. "Nobody loves me. I'm alone in this world and forever will be." She said calmly, almost mechanically, then turned and stalked down the hall, away from her. Eriko would just stare after her, baffled. Her father died shortly after, from a serious alcohol intake and drug abuse. For once in her life she felt relief.

Everything seemed to change one day on a mission.
She still didn't have any friends, she shunned anyone who approached her. For obviousreasonss. She knew everyone would leave her, so it was better to remain broken then trying to mend then get broken again into more pieces. Her teammate, a cocky dark haired male with a cheeky grin would often irritate her, even when she was younger with a pale face and a small frame. Now, even though she had grown considerably taller, her eyes that were once empty and sad, where filled with a determined flame to hunt. He approached her on day, just after a briefing for a mission. "Hey Mei Mei," he would tease, with that cheeky grin. She'd just look at him, emotionless. "What do you want?" She would ask, taking her eyes off him. He would shrug, and look at the sky. "Just to talk. Is that so wrong?" He laughed. Mei looked at him, her red eyes shining. "In my case, yes." And she'd walk away from him. It was the same in any situation. They would watch her walk away, never follow her. She hated and loved it at the same time. Loving it that she could be alone, the way she liked it. She hated it for that same reason. She was sick of being alone. She liked her own company, sure, but she was internally alone. But, he had followed her. He walked up beside her, laughing, on their way to their mission together. "Wow Mei, someone's in a bad mood." He would play on her. "Just go away, will you?" She'd sigh. But he'd point to their sensei. "Can't. We've been assigned as partners." He would say with the same grin. She'd sigh and shake her head, continuing to walk. But something that happened on that mission. Something she thought wasn't possible.

He saved her life.

It was raining heavily, the sky dark blue and the moon silver. They were being attacked, and as usual Mei had taken down most of them, without exerting much effort. However, she was struck with something she didn't see coming, that would have killed her until normal circumstances. She was so bust fending herself off her Sharingan didn't register the kunai hurtling towards her. Her teammate, Rikimaru, had jumped infront of it, getting stabbed in the process. Quickly, she killed the one who threw it, impaling them with her blade. Rai lay on a tree branch, panting, as he pulled the kunai out. Mei stared at him, eyes wide in amazement. "Why... Why did you...?" She started, lost of words. He chuckled, and looked up at her with huge sparkling brown eyes. "I'm glad your alright." "Why did you save me!" She demanded, ignoring his obvious charm. He just smiled. "Isn't it obvious? We are teammates after all. I couldn't let you get hurt." She started at him, her hair stuck wet to her face from the rain. "I can't..." She started, unable to speak. Just at that moment, their sensei and other teammate came along. "Are you both alright?" Their sensei asked, and their other member of the dark, a red headed boy with grey eyes, took Rai and helped him stand. "Yes..." Mei whispered. "The stabs pretty deep, we should get him looked at," the red headed boy, Ikuto, said. Mei nodded, and helped carry him.

An hour later they were back in Konoha, Rikimaru was being treated but he was alright. They all were. "Good job, Mei." Her sensei said as she walked by her. "Uh... Thanks..." She replied, looking around her. She went in to see her teammates, and found herself relieved they were okay. Man, that was close," Ikuto sighed, pressing a hand on Rikimaru's shoulder. "Glad your okay man." He patted him on the shoulder and nodded at Mei as he left the room. For what seemed an eternity, the room was dead silent. "Thank you," she stuttered. Rikimaru looked at her, almost skeptical, a smile lingering on his lips. "No problem, Mei" He grinned. Mei smiled and walked away from, holding her arms defensively. Maybe there IS hope for me after all.

A year later she was promoted to Jounin, and has been serving Konoha ever since. She and her teammates parted ways, Rikimaru became an Anbu and Ikuto did as well, so she rarely seen them. She was relieved, that, finally, she had found people who actually cared about her.
