Huang wiped his brow as he finished his bout of his solo training. Ever since becoming a fighter in the Legion armies, his family had pushed him into keeping up with his facade of a solider during the day and assassin at night. His body was toned down in every muscle even as they protested in the work that he constantly put them through.
He wasn't the only one though, fighters littered the training grounds. Ones who finished their own training lounged around, talking about battle strategy or news of the war. Others laughed at jokes and easy companionship. Huang eyed them warily as he had yet to find a fighter to his standards besides hi captain and mentor Jianyu. It had been awhile since he had seen his master, ever since the fight with the crazy Noble girl, Huang shuddered just thinking of her and her eyes....the way they just seemed to overwhelm him with adoration and awe. He shook his head to clear the thoughts before coming in when their current captain (not Jianyu) called them in.
"Form in Crew! We've got a special treat for you louts today." The captain smiled, more easy going then others as he pulled out a tournament parchment with names paired with other names. "This here, my little fighters is a battle bracket.Your solo training and missions are nice but its time for you to start working as a true solider of an army, Which means learning the strengths of your team and your weaknesses. Today you will be paired with one other fighter." He started calling out names. Huang gritted his teeth, he was never good with other people, too quiet and stiff for any real conversation. "Train with them today however you like, I'll be pitting team against other teams in the future to see how much you come to learn about each other!"
"Yue Lao and Huang-Fu!" The captain called out, Huang look a little shocked as he slightly remembered the name from the festival with Jianyu aged back. She had been a friend of Jianyu's but as Huang remembered her, she had only been a student.
Looking through the crowd, he noticed the girl, now a grown woman in the prime of her fighter spirit. She had changed and yet hadn't. Taller and prouder, Huang headed over to her, his politeness rang out true as he gave her a small smile. "Lady Yue Lao! What a surprise to see you again, and at a fighter status no doubt! Last i saw you was as a student on the verge of growing into herself." He smiled fondly at her, "I would say it is a small world to be paired with you, but I'm actually pretty glad." In truth he was. At least he knew her somewhat, even if she had grown in the time he had seen her.

Hobbies be damned, training was still the only thing Yue Lao actively enjoyed. It was useful, too. So Yue Lao had told her mothers she was going to ... what, pottery making? And instead, came here to train. Yue Lao wanted to train her legs a little more, so that she could keep up her strength in close-combat as well as with her meteor hammer. Strengthening her arms was easy; it was her legs she needed to pay more attention to.
Yue Lao wasn't really paying attention, muchless to whatever Captain was calling her now. To say that she had problems with the higher-ups was an understatement; Yue Lao's respect was earned, not given freely, and she found that other fighters and Captains seldom earned it. They became lazy or took their position for granted, and Yue would not even look at them twice. Grudgingly, she would follow instructions, as her main priority at the moment was to achieve a raise in rank. This time, she did glance over idly at what the Captain was calling out. She drew designs on the ground with her bare toes, thinking of Jianyu, wondering what he was doing. Her face grew warm as she thought of their recent engagement. It was still a little hard to grasp, the idea that the one she loved had realized he loved her back.
"Teamwork?" Yue Lao grimaced. She preferred to train alone. It was not because she had a particular problem with others; in fact, she loved to be around other Lunarians, to observe them, to learn their mannerisms and secrets. It was only that in training it had lately become extremely useless to her. Who could accurately defend against a meteor hammer? Only another meteor-hammer user, or someone very skilled with heavy tonfa. Blades could serve, but usually they were too thin, and her meteor hammer was a beastly contraption which would merely barrel through and snare the blades. It was easy to wrap around an arm or a leg and end a fight.
So she was understandably tired of close-combat with unskilled opponents. She pushed herself off from the wall where she leaned as she heard her name called. "Huang-Fu?" Yue Lao's face broke into a big grin. She hadn't see Jianyu's dear friend and student in a long time. He still looked much like he had when she saw him last, a fighter armoured exquisitely. Yue Lao's fighting style meant that she was relatively free of armoured pieces: she fought fast and quick, and her meteor hammer could both serve as an offensive weapon and a defensive one. Even against projectiles. It was everything Yue had wanted.
Soon, it would be more: She was well underway learning Weapons projection magic to change the shape of her meteor hammer at will. So far, she had managed to change it into a chicken, a spade and a stick. Not very promising. Although it was very disorienting for her sparring partner to have a fake chicken hit her over the head.
Yue Lao met Huang-Fu in the middle, closing the gap between them with excitement, "Huang-Fu! I haven't seen you in too long," Yue grinned. "Huh? That's right, I'm all grown up now," Yue Lao laughed, and flexed the muscle of her arm, her free hand against it. "I was grateful to be paired with you," Yue Lao said, with an emphatic nod. "Let's talk and warm up? Unless you already stretched," Yue Lao suggested. She clapped Huang on the shoulder, a friendly gesture.

Huang cocked his head at the female, and smiled. It had been far too long and well, she hadn't changed all that much personality wise. She was still outgoing and friendly, the opposite of him.
"It has been far too long Lady Yue! I fear after becoming a fighter I got a lot more busier with missions and family duties." Some that included the protection of the certain Priestess Sara, a little legionnaire that Huang had kept minor tags on. He still thought fondly on her now, such a sweet girl. "And not so much so that I can't recognize you? How do you feel? Better then being a academy student yes?" He kept his light smile on, he was once who usually never smiled after all and mostly kept to himself.
His smile only hitched when she flexed her muscle and he gave a small chuckle. One thing Yue was good at as he remember was always getting a laugh out of even the toughest Lunarians. "That means we're two peas in a pod, I hear you have a devastating weapon meant to be indestructible. I've been wanting to see it in action and test its rumors." He looked at her Meteor Hammer and cocked his head, would his speed and needle's sink through that weapon? He had to try after all, every weapon had a weakness, and if not the weapon, the user. That's what this training was about wasn't it? Finding strengths and weaknesses.
"I'm fine with stretching first, loose muscles help the body relax into battle ease." He began his stretches before thinking, while he had Yue, why not ask more about her? "How have you been Lady Yue? Besides graduating? Do you still talk to Jianyu?" Huang smiled, thinking of their mutual friend fondly. Jianyu was his master after all, and if anything else one of his best friends and brother of sorts. He would do anything for his brother.
