Finally, the red headed male thought as he caught his first glimpses of the Grieco House. He had wished to find out that they had been allowed to go back to their own home, but he couldn’t really complain. The phone call to Cali the night before had been sort of brief. The house seemed to be constantly full of noise and really the payphone which he used to call from hadn’t been the greatest. Oh well, he was almost to a warm bed. That was all he could really think about. A warm bed which he could maybe pass out on for a couple of hours. The duffle bag he had flung over his back seemed to gain weight by the moment. That wasn’t a great surprise since the heavens had decided to open up while he walked. Should have opted to be picked up, he thought with a lazy yawn as he continued up the road. This walk had really been a mixed blessing considering how his mother had clung to him for the last month. Finally a little time to himself with out having to worry about… well… Anything. What was the trouble that had cause his mother such… Stress? Well, it was of course a man. One had offered to marry her on the cruise trip she was on. But unfortunately Babs wasn’t a solo kind of girl and while she had proclaimed to love the guy, she had been seeing a cute waiter on the side. The cabaña boy had asked her to run away with him to his home land. Needless to say some s**t hit the fan.
When he found his mother waiting for him at a port somewhere in Central America, she was broke, broken hearted and (strangely enough) pregnant. The waiter had left her once he thought her money had run out. Apparently he showed up one day with his wife and four children and introduced her like she was some benefactor instead of the woman he had been sleeping with for the last four weeks. “Well the jokes on him,” Babs had said while they were waiting for her papers to clear, “I am still have quite a bit of money.” Lonny just had to shake his head and get down to logistics. Of course the first thing to do was to get her papers in order. There was of course seeing a doctor to confirm what the little pee on a stick test had said. Welp, it was true. She was pregnant. In the doctor’s office they asked was the father going to be excited, which Babs simply stated she didn’t know which man to tell. Lonny was floored but couldn’t help but just laugh. “It’ll be a surprise!” she said excitedly one morning as the ate breakfast on a beach.
