So, I've been noticing a trend lately in which people will come, post their stuff and then leave, never to pop their heads into the guild again unless to perhaps post another story, though that is a rare occurrence. While I don't want anyone to feel pressured into posting, I do want to keep this guild alive and that means finding ways to keep you guys here and interested. And who better to ask how to do that than you yourselves? So in comes the Suggestion Box. If you have any Comments, Critiques, or Suggestions on the Guild and how to improve, pop 'em right here. And please be honest. You do not have to sugarcoat anything for me. In order for things to change for the better, I need your real opinions.
With your support and advice, DWAWP could become the leading literary guild on Gaia. You just have to let your voice be heard!

Honestly, Im not entirely sure. Perhaps a friendly contest? Perhaps a discussion on a particular author/poet?
I'm sort of new at the guild scene (as far as committing to one) because none has actually kept my attention for too long. I would like this one to work out, though.

Well, we do have a contest. The DWAWP story of the week. It's just that no one votes.
And we have mini contests without prizes in the Games forum, but those have died down as well and have yet to be revived.

Oi? I didn't thought the voting for that contest was closed.
Hmm...

The contest runs on a week by week basis. Each week a new winner is picked. The voting opens on Monday and closes on Friday each week with a winner decided on over the weekend. Originally, each weeks contest would be only for things posted that week, but since posting has been slow lately, you can vote on any work in the guild regardless of when it was put up.
Does that make sense or am I doing a crappy job explaining things?

A weekly guild news/announcement could help.
Each week you could spotlight some one's entry, and maybe add a few personal words about it.
Include a weekly contest. I can definitely help out with a prize or two. I can do avi art or character art for a winner now and then when I'm not consumed with the Writer's Block Arena.
Once a month you could have a character spotlight.
Once a season you could have an aggressive "Novel" contest. I could help set that up if you'd like. (It wouldn't be NoNoWriMo long, but it would have a structure to follow and a word count.)
I know I need reminders to keep comming back as it's summer and I'm just recovered from a hospital stay. sweatdrop
I'm sure others need reminders too. Maybe not for the same reasons as me, though, I hope. xp
ALSO PARTIES! I LOVE PARTIES! blaugh WE NEED TO HAVE PARTIES!

Those are actually some really great ideas. Lord knows this guild has enough gold to do weekly announcements, and perhaps with the more reminders and contests, people will be more likely to stay and participate.
Still, it sounds like a hell of a lot of work, so I'll probably be looking for crew members to delegate things to. It takes some stress off of me, and gives more people input and ownership of the guild.
Like I said, we have a weekly contest that has recently died, but I'm taking any and all ideas to revive it. Or scrap it for something completely better. Just hit me up and we'll discuss it all and get this figured out.
Thanks for all the good ideas!

I handed my guild over to a group owned mule and my WONDERFUL crew (I LOVE my girls, they are AWESOME) take turns sending out messages and announcements through the NPC Guild captain. (Only captains can send announcements, I've found.)
The crew then acts as one voice through that NPC. Then as them selves with in the guild. They work well together most of the time, but when they don't I gladly step in and SIT ON THEM until they are all happy again. XD
I could not make it with out my crew.
Getting a crew together that believes in the guild, I KNOW, has to be the first step. I know, because, as I just said, I couldn't do it alone, I needed them.
If you plan to get a crew together then let them know what this guild is for, (Writers supporting writers)
... and what you expect from each one of the crew members. (Give them an over all "Job" that is not overly binding, and watch them run with it.)
This turned my failing contest in to a fantastic dream. Am I making gold from my contest? No, are they? No. (But I give them MCs every month because I love them so much. crying )
So yeah... next announcement post some jobs and ask people if they would feel OK stepping in for a couple of weeks, or a month, or longer. Make it clear it's a volunteer thing. (Unless you can and will pay them, derr)
Other than that, I'd love to head one contest. Next month, in September. I'll even toss up some prizes. But I WILL need help, a mini crew, maybe one secretary type. xd

I know that I've been a member for less than 12 hours, but Snim has great ideas. The story and character spotlight ideas are great and sound quite fun. The novel writing challenge à la NaNoWriMo sounds thrilling and is something I would have suggested as well.
