Ok Im nearly finished writing a novel that I have been doing for nearly a year and Im so close to finishing now that I really could use some help.
Right well they are in this room where a suspected murder happened and blood was spattered across the walls and floor but the problem is the body is gone and so is all signs of the murderer, I need to try and fugre out some way in which they can find clues or a secret place where clues could be.
Any suggestions?

Do they suspect someone died? Blacklight will reveal traces of body fluids. Maybe a blood spot was missed, and some objects are in the wrong place.

Did a neighbor hear a struggle and call for help? Is another character savvy enough/knew the victim well enough to deduce something does not look/feel right? Did the murderer perhaps drop something?

Did the murderer intentionally plant the clue or leave a calling card (some serial killers do it to taunt the police, or claim credit)? One book I read had a set-up suicide. The note left on the computer screen contained exact wording another character use earlier, which was a minor tip-off that the suicide was really a murder. On the other side of the coin, the murderer took a trophy---it could be a seemingly worthless object.

What was the victim like? If, for example, they were a slob, the room might look too clean. If they were neat, the room is not clean enough. Someone with OCD may have things a certain way, so an item in the wrong place is a red flag. A collector might have a prized piece ruined, destroyed, or stolen, regardless of its value (i.e., it could be the most worthless piece, but the character adored it).

I hope those get your thoughts jogging.
