I'm taking it that there is still a war going on during this RP, though who is fighting?
And the rogue creations are more or less like the monsters of Frankenstein, creatures created through madness brought on sudden by sudden bouts of genius insights that pushed foresight and morals out of the way for the sake of science.
Is that to say that except for the creations that can be just about anything the main race is human or human in nature?
Edit: And you're not going to provide a basic profile skeleton?
The war is over, but there is still conflict. Small resistance groups or criminal organizations exist but once noticed are beaten down a bit excessively.
Creations - I don't think I could have described it any better. They can be rouge machines too, but that is likely more cyberpunk so I glazed it over a bit.
Any (preferably well-considered) species is playable.
No basic profiles, as I have noticed many members of the guild have vastly varying views on what is useful or necessary in them. Every person has a different style of writing and some characters might find some default prompts not applicable. I am also assuming that any poor-quality profiles will be kindly critiqued.

A well versed back story is needed for this to develop further. First, what happened in the first war? Did anyone stand up to oppose the empire after they conquered the continent? Many other role plays I have been to had a detailed descreption of what, how, and why it happened. You must also state if there is a current Resistence already made to try to right the Empire's wrongs or do we have to start off everything? What happened to those that were living in Bellabost? What about other towns and cities? There are many questions that need to be answered before all can be said and done.
The current empire was originally many small kingdoms, small wars would be fought occasionally, internal overthrows, and family-based monarchies...
The empire was one such kingdom that became quite a bit more ambitious than expected and before much could be done. Some animosity exists, especially where loyalties were particularly high or the fighting was particularly gruesome. Neither is the case for Bellabost.
This RP isn't about the war, but intended to be a slice-of-life with opportunity for adventure. It can go anywhere but the description I gave was perfectly fine for an RP that is not based around any resistance or war. The RP isn't a 5+ thread RP, one town and some opportunity for outlying regions is plenty. If you want a character from another city make up a name, a word or two to describe the town's feelings toward the empire, and a reason the character moved to Bellabost.

By magic castle I was going for truely un-enterable, not a dare to explore, and aimed at town rumors of ghosts, the castle being alive, and other such reasons for fear and leaving it alone.
Magic also would, in theory, allow for a rare magician(tricks or real)[real being the types you mentioned] or something like a technopath(gifted with tech to a magical extent). They would, of course, be greatly feared, sought by the empire, or both; which would cause magic characters to be rare, difficult to play and a pain to interact with others.

Anyhow the thing is that Lili hasn't told us which races are in the list of 'creatures' so this leaves us to decide on our own and that's a little confusing since everyone's perception of what steampunk is may vary heavily. ...I have a strong urge to watch the Bioshock Infinite trailer again.
The wild is rouge, soulless monsters inhabitable only by criminals, feared species or outcasts - all of which would have to be ruthless to survive. Even the non-monsters are monsters, or capable of such, in their own right.
I want species to be open for creation, such as I'm sure there is a war-heavy species used by the empire and feared by all non-military people, even within the empire. Animal hybrids and oddities would be lab experiments or voluntary alterations, including mechanical limbs and such. However, the RP is centered on a mostly human village and that is the encouraged species.

For a good example of steampunk, particularly what may be useful here, go check out Girl Genius. Now, a few things are moving into the realm of magic (I think, may just be supernatural), at least in that they currently are not explained.
Actually, you probably noticed I was thinking about the quite a bit. However, I muted a lot of things that would be main-plot-ish and tried to restrict it to just the world - before the machines started to not have any explanation as to how they ran.

Who here has read the artamis fowl series?
Me! But I had not considered it for this roleplay. The next book comes next Summer.
I don't think it would work much, as the magic folk there are more of a cyber punk and many aren't sturdy enough to survive surfacing without being enslaved for special abilities.
