Perhaps it shall be this one: (The blue double breasted design.) Perhaps I should make it more steampunk. Perhaps I need ideas ^^;; If I don't get any ideas, it will be black. Black, simple, severe, and boring, and I will like it. But I will continue to be sad about not having enough steampunk clothes.

I would add embroidery or fabric paint on a design related to my persona(s). Attachment points for chainmail or buttons for loops when you need to run the piping for any number of devices.

That's a good point about loops and such. That way I could have a fairly normal-looking coat, albiet with a few interesting hooks and straps on it to perplex the uninitiated, and I could stick on all manner of pouches and devices or weaponry when the time was right. Thanks for the idea.

(don't forget interior pockets for ammo and sundries) But pockets are haaard -slaps whiney self- Actually, this is all a pretty good practical idea, since I wouldn't carry a purse to save my life. I'm wondering what color to make this...I have problems with color. My instinct is always to go back to my Goth roots ^^;; Black with silver hardware would look good, undoubtedly, but I think I might regret it if I tried to pair it with more steam gear later...I'm also shying away from the standard brown and brass, though, and I'm not quite sure why.

I personally am fond of mixing warm colors with silver hardware and cool with the brass (I think a dark teal and shining brass or maroon with gunmetal are awesome parings) the trims/buckles can be black or brown but with the advent of steampunk conventions one really does have to break out of the drab colors of sepia and monochrome

Dark red (exterior, main colour) and Grey (interior, and trim maybe) with silver buckles, hooks, rings and stuff. also Dark grey belts.

Very cool. In relation to the coat? Simple. Sir, you want to trim the collar and the wrist cuffs where they turn or create appliques for the shapes you desire to have adorning the coat.

I could do this...or I could protect the world from me running around yelling "MY CLOTHES ARE MADE OF FISH." Hmmmmmmm. It's a tough choice.
