♦-» Akira slowly, and quietly followed behind Luther, keeping his eyes on the ground below, not fully aware of what to do, or where they were going, or what to even say. The boys were all in line, getting onto a ship, where they would be given their name tags, and their room assignments. Would would he do in the army anyway? He was not a fully straight boy, or at least.. he thought.. he didn't even know about what was going on in his life anymore. How was he supposed to survive in the army? Or the Navy? Or where ever he is. Listening to Luther talked, he just laughed a little, keeping his head down.
"Well.. you know... I honestly would probably be better dead... I am no special of a kid... and plus... I don't belong here... If I die.. don't care about me.. okay? " he tried to smile.. but in his gut he wanted to be loved.
Akira was just lonely in life. He grew up his entire life in a home that was small, and not very large for himself; and he lived with several other children, which, in a way became like a family, but not the family he longed for, for a good portion of his life. His only friend was Tony, who was gay. but he didn't care, and he wasn't afraid to admit it--plus he was really into sports, so no one ever thought that he was actually gay. Akira hid it, pretty well--even on the papers for the navy he didn't put he was gay, he said he was straight since in tiny font below the question it said
We do not accept anyone of a homosexual orientation. which in a way could be seen as racism. Akira couldn't believe he didn't check that box, just so he could go home. Why was he staying? If he was drawing an attachment to Luther so quick, he hoped it was going to end soon, because war is no place for love.
Stepping into the boat at long last, but the line didn't stop there. Another line was inside as men were getting their name tags, and then being shuffled into another line for their room assignments. Great, another hour of waiting. Akira looked up at the man in front of him, smiling at Luther,
"So umm.. do you really want to be here..? I know I probably asked you this before.. but I really want to know.. I don't care if you are truly dying on the inside and don't want too be here... but I want to know, if you truly want to go home... I know I do... it's not fun here.. or so it seems by the looks of men who are returning.. and I just want to be in a warm bed... my other question is, if we are roommates.. would it bug you..? I don't mind.. you can be honest with me.. it won't hurt my feelings I promise!" he smiled softly, waiting for the line to shuffle. After peopel shuffled and shuffled he was now receiving his name tag.
'Akira Leonardo Romanov, 17?' the man standing there called. Akira nodded and took the tag, solluting the man-the man did it back. Then Akira followed Luther into the next line where room numbers were assigned.
"This will be a long trip..." he mumbled to himself, looking around. The boat smelled of musty rust, and salt water, and the smell of dirt as if not cleaned very well. Was he going to stay on this thing? And for how long? Hopefully this wasn't the exact boat they would be on.
