►Welcome!◄

Here is a place where I shall describe each role-playing technique that I personally use. For me, there are four big ones, all listed below.

Pretty Posts, BBC Code, and Emphasis.

Actions and Emotions.

Surroundings and Environment.

Sounds and Punctuation.

Pretty Posts, BBC Code and Emphasis

-Posts with designs and quote draw the eye of reader's and provide much more interest than grey, grey and more grey. For tips on this, click here.

-BBC Code is a wonderful tool used frequently among gaia.
~You can "Bold Words."
~You can Show thoughts with italics.
~You can point out something with underlining.
~You can highlight with colors.

-Emphasis increases the importance of a word, or a certain point. One way to add sarcasm is italics. To make a word seem louder, you can Bold or write it in CAPS. Underlining can draw attention for surprise or importance.

Surroundings and Environment.

-Surroundings are the objects and people around your character. Are there several trees or a chair? Write it. What about thier enemy just feet away at the lunch table? Write it. This tactic adds depth and gives us an idea of where the character is.

-Environment is affected by the types of surroundings around a character. A forest, a desert, a lunch room. All are environments. Explain where your character is, and tell the reader if a tree is casting a shadow over a character or is a river is flowing nearby.

Actions and Emotions.

-Actions: It's what you do. Whether the person is taking a drink of water or sitting down, write so. Remember, actions are critical. And elaborate, go ahead and describe that the sofa your rpc sits on is luxurous and soft. Decribe how the water is soothing on a dry throat. Make the reader realize what your character is doing, and how it affects him/her physically. Even without literally writing out what they are thinking, you can make their emotions clear by describing...such as clenching a fist or jumping for joy.

-Emotions: It's how you feel. Is your character upset or joyous? We should be able to tell the difference by how they think. If your character is upset, they may be thinking, "I cannot believe that happened." Make us aware of any changes since the last post. If your character was upset, and then thier crush walks by, making it clear with a simple, "I-it's her."

Sounds and Punctuation.

-A sound should be self explanitory. Such as "Ow!" or "Ah."
Write it in! Add it to dialougue! If your character gets whacked by a soccer ball, they most like wouldn't stand there silently. They would react realistically. Even if your character is extremely quiet or mute, they would at least think, "Owwie."
-Don't forget about other sounds, such as a whistle of the wind or flap of cloth. Be creative and imagine what you would hear!

-Punctuation&Grammer is a big staple of mine personally. I beleive it's very important for literacy and skill to know the difference between "There, They're and Their."
~Their is used when something is owned.
~They're is used as a contraction for They are.
~There is used to describe where something is.
~It's is a contraction for It is.
~Its for when something is owned.
~Basically, An apostrophe is for contractions.
