Landon turned to face Susana when he heard her hearty voice just behind him. He grinned happily and accepted the steaming cup of coffee she gave him. She had made it exactly as he liked—smooth and sweet with the faintest hint of citrus and almond. “Sa-weet! Just what I need!” the Californian exclaimed, giving her a thumbs-up with his free hand.
He had hoped that Texas would stay longer and perhaps cook something with him, but then she wandered off to another stove to make some burgers instead. Landon stared after her for a bit, sipping his coffee in slight dejection; once he had downed about half of the glass, he turned around and resumed cooking his brunch burrito wrap. By the time the class bell rang, Landon had consumed both articles of food, thus freeing up his lunch period to go do something fun like always. The Westerner picked up his backpack and departed, casting a “See ya later!” over his shoulder to Kartlos and Susana.
