That was when she twitched, ever so slightly she twitched. Her mind was pissed, angry, and violent. Odi had made a mistake calling her brothers "yours" and her other siblings "mine". Of course, they weren't a family. They were split completely and to her would always be seen as belonging to one side or the other. She was Ara's. She was "hers". She was not part of Odi's side of the family, as he completely made clear, and slowly her smile faded. Suddenly, she tensed, and then the smile returned, harder than before.

This family was a lie.

With this thought in her head she moved to lean against her brothers, her side of the family. She was for once using their strength to support her, her rage biting into her muscles, threatening her to go over board. She had never felt such blind hatred, and such the desire to make it known.

Was she a naturally violent person?

Astrea silently watched her other two siblings. When Ransom mentioned they should split up and get to know the parent they didn’t get raised with it sent slight warning bells through her head. She didn’t want any one of the siblings she hadn’t been raised with near her father. She didn’t know them well enough to know if they had ended up with Odi’s blood lust and besides there was just something fake about Toxic.

Astrea could slightly see the want of getting to know the other parent, but shouldn’t you also want to know your siblings who where closer in age to you as well. It was just fishy how her sister toxic wanted to get him alone. She had no idea if the others had ended up with the blood lust trait, and if one of them did have it and they disliked her father…. Astrea let the thought hang in the air. She looked back towards her siblings and then her father before concentrating her stare on Toxic. She missed the small twitch but when the smile faded and then came back stronger warning bells went off in her head again.

“I am an in between although I must admit I lean more towards brains than brawn” Astrea spoke up answering her brothers before deciding she wanted to speak to one of her siblings she had actually grown up with. Gem was next to Aracelis and thus out of the question so it would have to be Ransom. “Do we trust the other two to keep our ‘sister’ in line?” she asked leaning in such a way he was the one to hear her.

Ransom shrugged 'I'm more of a fighter really' He said, wondering if the others would get his unsaid warning. Ransom didn't usually go looking for a bloody fight, but once he was in combat mode it was hard to stop him from tearing everything to shreads. He flicked a glance at the two twins, enjoying the thought of his old man kicking their furry behinds.

He too noticed the smile. Well, s**t. Something was up. He needed to get Toxic away from his dad. Think! Think! Think! 'You sure are smarter than me in any case.' He said cheerfully to Astrea, giving her an affectionate nudge and whispering in her ear: 'Hell no, but if anything happens, we'll have their mum' They seemed to rely on one another for strength, so it was unlikey they'd try anything funny when there was a chance one of them was in danger.

Walking over to Ara he looked at the rest of them 'Take care of pops you three' He told his other sbilings 'It's gonna be great having mum all to ourselves' He made sure Toxic caught the dangerous edge in his voice and gave her a look that clearly meant 'watch it buster'. Oh irony, Ransom was commiting ransom!

Ara looked around at her children, frowning. She could feel the power play going on on both sides, each group testing the other. She really wished that they could bypass all of this and just try to get along, but...

She almost sighed as she looked over at her daughter. Toxic was the only one of the three to get her father's temper. None of the bloodlust, but that only made her more dangerous to the targets of her rage. She trusted the boys could keep her in line if nothing else, but...

Neither set of children seemed happy about having to leave behind their token parent figure either. Ara made an attempt to lighten to mood, affectionately nudging Gemelle then playfully flicking Ransom with her tail. "Watch it youngster. Just cause I'm older doesn't mean I can't still run circles around you." Ara looked at Odi and winked. "And the day your father gets jumped by some young pups is the day he retires from being a warrior to become a scholar."

"Hey, I object to that! The life of a scholar is a perfectly honorable one," Kaleth piped up, glancing at his mom for a moment then turning his attention back to Toxic. He'd never seen his sister this mad, not when he and Toreth had rolled her into a lake while she slept or when they'd gotten all that pine resin stuck in her fur.

Toreth was just as startled as Kaleth, but he hid it better. He and Kaleth flanked either side of Toxic, both leaning on her slightly. Toreth gave Toxic the lightest of nudges. "Geez little sis, chill a bit," he hissed softly in her ear.

"You gonna be alright," Kaleth whispered in her other, shooting his sister a worried look. Odi was sitting there waiting for them to catch up to him, but they were afraid that trying to herd her forward wouldn't have a very desirable effect.

The tension among their children was thick and Odi could feel it, he had been trying his hardest to ignore it. However now it was almost unbearable, both sides he could tell were finding dislikes and he could already figure why. Ara's him showing up and they view him as a danger to his mother, and his responding in their mind justly. The only one not being a child was Gem who seemed to legitly want a relationship.

"I wouldn't be much of a scholar. Never had much of a attenction span for stories." He said back to her sweetly as he waited patiently for her portion of the litter. A little time with them could help him fill some gaps and let them set the boundaries.

As he watched his two children move to join their sister and mother he gave a sigh, where did he go wrong. "I would appreciate it if you value your mothers time."

Gem was silent as she looked at her closer siblings, they were starting to irritate her. Ransom was always getting the attenction while Astrea was always the first thing dad talked about. She gave a small snort at all her litter mates, they were being dramatic. When she was given a nudge by her mother a smile was on her face.

"I don't know about the others but I want to actually be your daughter." Her voice was still low, something that seemed a little like her grand mother. This was her chance to have someone who didn't worry about Astrea getting along with people or always being in the background as Ransom got all the attection. "Where can I start?" She asked tilting her head.

'No' She whispered to both brothers, her tail flicking side to side like a happy kitten, though inside she wasn't. 'He labeled us "yours' and 'mine', as if we are things.' She added to both brothers, eyes narrowing at Ransom.

'This man labeled us as if were not a family' She added, though glanced at the other.... Odi's children. If he was labeling then fine, she'd label, too. Turning to her brothers she flicked both her tails over theirs, deciding for once to give them affection, even if she often didn't. Sometimes she could display affection if she truly felt like it, and though rare currently she needed something to keep her from lashing out.

Her temper rose when Ransom gave her that look, and then she gave him a threatening grin. A grin that clearly said touch her and you won't be seeing your dad again. With this, she sweetly smiled at the other... Odi's children, and then a genuine half smile to her mother and brothers. She never actually smiled like a goof, no, but her half-smiles were good enough and often honest. Hell, her brothers were keeping her from flipping the lid, so she could reward them a little.

She nodded towards Ransom’s response figuring it would have to do for now. Here was hoping that if everything went to hell in a hand basket experience would win over age. Her eyes slightly narrowed at her father’s comment about not wasting their female biological donor’s time. Astrea could tell her father thought they where acting like children. Personally she hadn’t wanted to come no matter what excuses Ara gave to them the fact was she didn’t bother to try looking for them. Normally it probably wouldn’t have mattered but she had spent her whole life looking for other foxes, these foxes and now she was not impressed it almost seemed as if that side of the family had given up on them.

She hadn’t yet moved to go to Aracelis and shook her head. Fact was Odi didn’t seem to be seeing toxic was pretty much lying through her teeth. The happy tone and smiles where just a bunch of lies. Personally if you where going to lie you needed to be better about it. She looked over at her younger twin sister and hoped at least for her sake that this meeting could go better if only for her. When they started moving towards where ever her mother took them. then astrea would follow.

Ransom struggled to keep his temper under control. How lovely it would be to just start the fight he knew was coming. He could feel it, Toxic would break any moment now. And him? He didn't know. It was likely he'd keep his temper in check, he'd done it all his life. But who knew how Aracelis had raised this bunch.

'Sure, sure' He said to his father, keeping his tone light. He wanted to win, but he could settle for a stalemate. Neither side was going to touch thier parent with all the threats being thrown around. And of course the parents didn't notice. They never noticed. 'Let's go' He was torn. Half of him didn't want to leave his dad, half of him just wanted to get this whole thing over and done with.

Ara gave her brood a firm look. "Please try, Toxic," she said, not quite pleading but only just. She turned to look at all six of her children in turn. "Can we please just...try. Like it or not we're all related by blood. I would like for us to at least try to come to like each other." She shifted weight on her paws for a moment, then offered a tentative smile to her youngest son and oldest daughters.

"I know a beautiful stretch of coast we can walk along. I know Odi dislikes water," she cast a glance over at her mate, "so it might be a new sight for you." She turned and slowly started walking in the right direction, waiting for the three to catch up to her.

Toreth and Kaleth collectively sighed together in exasperation, but pressed against their sister in a sign of support. They really did love their sister, no matter how annoying she could be, but for their mom's sake they wanted to at least say they tried to get along with their father before they called it. Who knew, it might even turn out great?

The trio reached Odi first. Toreth and Kaleth looked over at Astrea.

"You going with them?"
"Or staying behind to go with us?"

The brothers glanced at each other.

"Don't worry about Dad. As a general rule when we don't want anything to do with someone we just avoid them. We're not worried about Mom either, she's fast and tough enough."

Kaleth stepped forward. The slighter male looked a touch worried. "Try to get to know her? She really did miss you guys. She didn't abandon you." He fell back in with his brother and sister, Odi's clone but with his mother's green eyes printed in his face.

Odi watched Ara as she spoke, he had to make it work for her. He wanted this to work for all his children. He knew that his mate could hold her own and he didn't worry. His own blood lust had been put under control since kits taught you much.

As his gaze drifted over to the children he never knew he could see how close they were. It made a sad smile drift on his face as he remember his own siblings. He still hoped they were dead. "How about a walk through the forest. We have a lot to talk about." He didn't try to force his will on them, he approached like he knew he was an outcast.

Gem watched her siblings in the distance walking toward her father. She didn't feel the urge to defend him, he was a warrior by birth and knew he could handle himself. All she wanted was her mother to love her.

Gem tilted her head in confuision of hearing her mother question. "What's a coast? Is that a big valley?" She asked innocently unknowing that a ill look had came over her face.
