And statistical reason why, or simply because you like him?

Freya has a means of healing herself, and her Dragon Seal can nail any opponent for 9999 damage. Plus, she's very powerful, not just physically but mentally as well. She had suffered more than anyone, and yet each time she picked herself up and pushed on. For me, I'd put my money on Freya, not just because I like her, but because comparing what Cid can do in FF4, Freya has a lot more versatility and much more going for her combat-wise.

Strength wise I think Kain is just a little stronger in general, but Freya's wider scale of abilities including the skill to heal herself gives her a wider range of options to work with and makes her more durable in a fight, so in a long/drawn out battle I think Freya could take it all in the end.
