The air was cool, which was uncommon at that time of the year, and the sun was filtered out by the trees. Obsidian could feel the forest still as he approached the area where the fire had occurred. Two nights ago the herd had watched as a beautiful storm rolled through. Thunder clapped and lightning struck some trees and unfortunately caused a small fire.
As the young stallion stepped into the burnt clearing the smell of char filled his nostrils. He was sent by his father to assess the damaged area and , fortunately, wouldn't have too much bad news to deliver. The animals had all fled the area and a maximum of 20 trees were burnt down to nothing. A lot more could have been lost.
Sighing to himself, he wandered around some more, checking for anything still alive under the ash.

Enjoying the day, the small mare walked through the trees of the forest. She was in search of a clearing with plenty of beautiful flowers, much like the ones that graced her mane. It took her some time to get this far, having to persuade herself even into leaving. Abeni was such a nervous mare, but she had a great heart.
Moving further through the trees, she believed she saw a clearing up ahead through the massive trunks. She smiled at the thought of looking at all the flowers. Getting closer though, the smile faded as she emerged from the trees as her golden eyes looked out a small patch of black nothingness. Her heart instantly sank, wondering what had happened and hoping everyone was alright.
Tentatively, she took gently steps further into the burnt clearing, looking around worriedly.
