A vast stretch of grass, with scattered caves that locals and adventurers enjoy exploring, this area has a lot of grazing animals, so hunters come here as well. Be careful in the caves, some are very large and have drop-offs.

Elpi leaped nimbly from rock to rock, making her way down towards a curious sparkle she had spotted at the bottom of a shallow cave. She hit a slippery boulder that she hadn't expected to be slippery and fell with a loud "EEP!!"

Cathedral groaned loudly, head thrown back, eyes closed against the blazing sun. He had set out from a village nearly three days ago, and by now he should have reached the next one. Clearly, he still had not improved with his sense of direction.
Shifting his pack, he let his head fall, eyes scanning the horizon for any sign of civilization. Nothing. In fact, the environment had no real distinguishing features, just a couple boulders and caves strewn about every so often. Perhaps it was time to take a break.

Elpi lept out of the cave, holding a rock that had a slightly unnatural sheen to it. She landed in a crouch, then lifted herself up to survey the landscape. She clutched the rock like it was a baby. Elpi scrutinized the horizon, sweeping her gaze from left to right. She spotted a figure set against a large boulder. It seemed tired. she cocked her head slightly, deciding whether to go in for a closer look. Elpi shrugged, and ran off towards the figure.

Seemingly by chance, Cathedral let his gaze wander to the side as he trudged along, a small shape moving toward him rather quickly. His eyes narrowed, leaning forward slightly, as if it would help his eyesight.
"What in the world..."
Skeptic, he took a step back, flipping his coat open and removing his revolver from it's holster. The barrel remained toward the sky, but he let his finger hover over the trigger, should the need arise.

Elpi sped up, locking her cat-like eyes on the figure. She inhaled sharply as she approached a man, raising a gun towards the sky. Slowing down to a stop, she stared at the man. Her eyes squinted, partly because of the intensity of the sun's rays but mostly because she was trying to take in every detail. The more she knew, the more obvious his intentions would become. She opened her mouth as if to say something, but closed as soon as it was open.

Cathedral stared at the young woman, but it was a long moment before he finally let his breath escape his lungs. Slowly, he lowered his gun and holstered it once again, though never once took his eyes off the girl. While it did not seem as if tis woman was out to cause him any harm, it had been quite awhile since he had seen another life roaming the plains, and one could never be too careful.
"Is there something I may assist you with?" He asked cautiously, and his tone reflected such. While the skepticism was obvious, his voice was not totally unkind.

Elpi raised an eyebrow, the said quietly "No." He spoke. That was a good sign. She quickly glanced behind her and edged a little closer, "Not many people come here." A breeze blew across the vast expanse of land, making the sun's blistering rays slightly more tolerable. Elpi stayed silent for a while. She was afraid to ask of his intentions.

"I'm well aware..." He replied after another awkward pause, reviewing the girl once again. She was quite curious to him, and while she posed no threat, she also required no assistance. He couldn't really say how this encounter benefitted either of them, but he supposed their meeting was mostly about being two wandering souls on the hot plain. A living being is almost always a welcome sight.
"You wouldn't happen to know where the nearest settlement is, would you?" Couldn't hurt to ask, after all.

Elpi let a small smile trace her lips. It was, in fact, slightly refreshing to meet a traveler that was not looking for a supposed treasure. She decided to point the man in the right direction. "The nearest town? That way about 20 miles or so." Elpi pointed North-west, "There is a stream a half mile away from here. You should head there first."

Twenty miles. He almost groaned aloud, but managed to swallow it just as quickly as it had arisen. At least he wasn't totally lost, but it was still quite a distance to go. The stream would be a welcome break, and he would be much more inclined to be on the move when the sun finally settled.
His eyes followed her finger as she spoke, nodded slowly to himself as he tried to properly orient himself so that he would not end up heading the complete opposite of where he wanted to go.
"What are you doing out here? It's quite a distance from town, as you've pointed out."
