How do you feel about being able to alter a stones colour?
Don't have a problem with it
Have a big problem with it
So long as it looks cool, and the purpose isn't changed, I don't care
Hope they asked the crystal first

Naturally, crystals and gems come in a variety of colours to begin with.
But with the assistance of dye, and light a person can change those colours.

How do you feel about being able to alter a stones colour?

Would the color of a stone affect any incorporeal benefits it has?

That is what I'm not sure about. I wasn't able to check out the peices I have before they were altered, that would be the ideal way to know for sure. But when compared to a stone that hasnt been altered, I don't feel a difference.

It shouldn't have changed the incorporeal benifits, If you are simply changing the colour. Wouldn't it just be simular to a baked on colour on the surface of the gem??

The dyes I can see not having much affect, but the reason this was brought up was because of a conversation in the Crystals thread about Mystic Topaz. Peices of Topaz that had been subjected to different levels of light to change their colour.

They do use dyes that go into the cracks of crystals, and they make interesting pieces. I have a tumbled quartz with a Red dye in it that is really pretty.

But they also use light.

The only issue that I would see is that many times its not only the crystal that is helping a person, but it is also the color. As long as you use the correct crystal/color combination for whatever it is that you are doing (healing for example), it shouldn't really matter. both the crystal and the color are more of just focus points for a person and they also are good mediaries for transferring energy from one place to another.

It is also really neat when they do that for art.
