They are known to attack from the ceiling, or below. When they attack from the ceiling, they shriek "Let go of me!"
Due to the excessive darkness within the sewers, and the fact that a character's radio doesn't work underground, this often results in panic and surprise when they are confronted. Fairly slow, Hanged Scratchers compensate for their lack of speed with reach and endurance. They also prove quite diligent in pursuing prey once they've caught sight of it. It is best to use the hammer or a firearm on them.
Symbolism:
Alessa Gillespie's interest in studying insects and bugs. They could also represent the way of the Order sneaking up and abducting Alessa, hence why they yell "Let go of me!" when attacking from the ceiling. This could also explain their persistance when pursuing Harry.
