Because it isn't summer without pie and mosquitoes.

I just spent a six mile hike fleeing from the most agressive swarm I have ever had the misfortune of running into, and now my mosquito policy has changed. Before I was okay with there being a small mosquito civilization in my cabin as long as they didn't start with the sucking, even though they keep me up at night. But now, no more mr nice guy. They are all kill on sight. My floor is littered with the dead and still they keep coming.

Aw, I do remember that. Good memories. I don't think that troll was ever given a name though.

There's another very popular children's book about the mosquito. It's an adapted African tale iirc, where the mosquito gets in trouble for lying.
