Actually, even in WoW where just about everything is abbreviated I've never heard that. confused maybe it's just people you guys know that do...

No, it's more common in discussion forums, that's all. Look it up. Google, Wikipedia, it's there.

I don't like to chat that much... Too many people talking and I start to lose track of who said what and sometimes confuse what was said... It eventually hurts my head and I give up on it...
