"Haha, Cais its the dark of night in the middle of no where. Only squirrels will see and I hardly think they are the type to gossip." She stated with a small smile, she shook her head slightly and wondered over him with her bag, opening it up to reveal maybe thirty small lotus shaped paper models with small candles in the middle of them.
She had made them herself in her free time, each was a different colour and she was sure if they would light them all the lake would look like a floating rainbow. Well a small section of it would, she did not remember the damn thing being so big. "Okay well you see, when I was little my mum and I used to make these. They mean a different thing depending on who you ask but for me, they are just something beautiful I like to look at on a quiet night. Some say they sometimes grant wishes." She explained, wondering if they meant something else to him and regardless she hoped he did not think it a terrible idea. She hoped he would like it. "I thought it would be a nice way to wish you look, with your promotion and everything." She went on to explain with a small smile taking one out and then turning to light it on the lantern which was resting on the log.
"Anyway that is why I grabbed the lantern, so do you want to set some off with me? We will have to go out into the lake if that is okay. That is why I brought the dress I would have warned you but I did not want to give away the surprise." She stated with another small chuckle as she stepped into the black inky water. It was calm, so much so you could see the moon's retroflexion in it. It was a little chilly but not too drastic, she lowered herself and let the first one float free. Looking back at him as it slowly began its journey deeper into the centrer.

He blinked as he saw her and blushed more, trying not to look anywhere but her face. "They've been known to chatter." He said with a chuckle, looking at her outfit a little. "You... look good." He said, swallowing a little. When she approached he looked over the bag curiously, then grinned.
"Can't say I've ever sent any off" He said, looking towards the lake. "But, I can use all the luck I can get." He said, slipping his shoes off. Carefully he removed his apron and weapons, setting them in a pile with his shoes. Finally he removed his over-shirt and followed after her.
With his first few steps he felt the urge to dive deep under the water, but refrained, letting the cool water move against his body. Once he was near her he gently took a small green one out, setting it on the waters surface and watching as the small light followed after the other, blotting the darkness with the soft glow of light. It was as it should be, peaceful and quiet with good company. He smiled back at her and took another matching her hair, setting it down. "I think this one is for you." He said with a smile.

"T-thank you." Damn she stuttered, she promised herself she was not going to do that - she was meant to be being strong and confident like Yue! She blushed slightly at the complement and then tried to break the awkward moment with a little joke of her own. "Now who is the one not worried about the squirrels?" She stated with a small smile as she watched him strip down. She looked the other way to hide the rosiness in her cheeks and continued to concentrate on the lake. She smiled as he said that one was for her. "Haha, I do not need any luck. I am in good fortunes at the moment." She explained stopping for a moment to look at him.
"I mean my studies are coming along as well as I can hope for, I have the best friends in the world and... well you came out with me tonight. What else could I ask for really?" She asked as she set some more off, glad that he was taking part. There was still so much she did not know about him, maybe one day he would tell her. She was sure he wanted to know a lot more about her too. She wondered if he might be interested in doing this again... sometime.
She raised her head to flick her hair over her shoulder but as she did her eyes caught sight of small glowing objects at the other side of the lake, there presence made her eyes widden slightly. "... Cais." She called to grab his attention reaching out a hand to rest it on his shoulder, then pointing with her other towards the other side of the lake near the bushes. She could not believe it, fireflies!

With a gentle hand he pushed out more, watching the dots of light make their journey across the water. It was a soothing sight even as the flames danced on the light wind which carried the floating treasures. "Well, take it for later then." He said, taking a few more and pushing them on their way. "You never know when you might need some extra luck." He hadn't been able to stop smiling and knew she had probably noticed.
There was still so much about her that was a mystery, so much both had yet to share. In that moment he felt content enough to admit to himself that he wanted to know more, though knew it better to wait until their next meeting this way. Words began to form before he noticed the lights, but at the soft feel of her hand he looked towards them. Glorious rising lights into the sky, spinning, weaving and dancing up into the luminous moonlight. "Oh wow!" he exclaimed, taking her hand gently with one of his, holding onto it.
He watched as they continued into the night sky, watching in silence as he often had as a young child - before deciding to catch them. The night was glittering with such amazing sights. Another smile. "This has been the most calming night for me in a while." He admitted, looking back at her. A warmth was growing inside of him, something he wasn't sure of but he took notice quickly, staring back at her. Truly it had already been amazing, but he was always curious about the next thing. He let out a light nervous chuckle and looked back at the moon. It was such a beautiful night.

Sara did not expect the fireflies, it was so strange since they had been talking about them not too long ago. She thought it might be a sign from the spirits telling her she was doing the right thing. They always left her little signs, she just noticed them more than most, heck some were so blind to them they did not even believe they were there. However she did and she was sure this meant that her friends had seen him and grown to like them, they were giving her their blessing. It nothing else it was a beautiful sight, one that lifted her heart and made her feel... funny inside.
She looked down at her hand and wrapped her fingers around his looking to the side slightly with a small blush, she took in a deep breath and swallowed the lump which was present in her throat feeling her heart once again starting to beat quite quickly, her temperature rising. She wanted to tell him something, she just needed the courage to do so. "Cais.." She started before the words got jammed, curse the spirits for being so shy, she was sure Yue would not have trouble with things like this, she was brave. She was strong. She took a moment and closed her eyes, sometimes you just had to take a leap of faith.
She looked at him and then pulled him towards her, burring her head into his shoulder and giving him a hug. "... I think I like you Cais, we can do this again sometime again right? I mean I know you will be busy but." She began before closing her eyes her face radiating a crimson colour - feeling his body heat, before backing up a little so she could take a look at him hoping that the sudden hug had not traumatised him or offended him in any way, she hugged Yue all the time but she did not like Yue in the same way she liked Cais. It might have been a crush but it was her first one and she did not know how to handle it, she was nervous and hoped he understood.

In that moment he felt a deep warmth rising from within, moving through his body while never taking his gaze from her eyes, regardless of the swarming glow of fireflies in the distance. His bright eyes watching hers as his fingers laced. It had been a long time since he had felt anything remotely like it. At the sound of his name he felt a bit awkward, the red haze over his cheeks growing over his entire face. Opening his mouth to react he was stopped by her.
Hugs were something he was unused to - even his sister rarely hugged him - but this one felt nice, better than any other he'd had. She spoke so softly, it felt wonderful to his ears and he smiled at her, though she backed off. His silence lasted but a moment. "You're not alone in those thoughts." He said. "I'd be happy to, even if I'm busy." Gently he moved his arms around her, pulling her back into the hug, returning it happily. With a hand he made a few strokes against her hair before moving back just slightly to look at her again.
It was quick like lightning - the force that grabbed a hold of him. With a soft but quick movement he moved forward to her and pressed his lips against hers, pulling back and unhinging his arms from her. For a moment he could do nothing but stare, but then fell back to his awkwardness. "I'm sorry." he said quickly. "That wasn't really proper, I should have asked... I..." he swallowed and began to move back towards shore, gazing at her under the moonlight.
Clearing his throat he managed to get a hold of what little composure that remained in him. "Tonight has been... one of the best of my life, Sara." he began, looking away from her again. "I wish all nights could be like this, free from things. Spending company with wonderful people bathed in light." He said, gazing off to the lanterns silently moving away from them, fireflies dancing over them happily while the moon gazed down. It was as if his life had suddenly lit up and everything had noticed.
He didn't want it to end, but that creeping feeling took hold again. Extending a hand out to her he nodded towards her. "We can do this again, but for now would you allow me to walk you back home?" He said, urgency slinking back into his voice. From behind somewhere he felt it, blood was being spilled even as the world seemed to have stopped for Sara and himself. "You've done more for me then you will ever know, Sara." He said taking her hand to lead her. "All I can do in return is see you off safely and tell you how much I appreciate it."

Sara was not expecting it, she had always wondered what her first kiss would be like and thinking about it she had done a good job for herself, he was so sweet and the scene was so wonderful. Though it was over so quick she hardly had any time to react, he had soft lips and he was really gentle. Her cheeks were tainted as she raised her hand to rest it where he had kissed her, looking onwards nervously as he rambled a little - in all honesty she found it cute. "N-no. I do not mind." She reassured him, hoping that it was just because he could not help it, not from regretting what he had just done. She watched him approach the shore and after a moment followed.
"They could be, if you wanted." She could make every night like this for him, and if it was at all possible she would make it so. When she got back on sure she looked at him with a small and innocent smile, he was so nice. Maybe if he wasn't she would have called it a night but because he was as timid as her she wanted him to know that he did not have to worry. She put a hand at the side of his face and gently kissed him before taking his hand.
"Okay Cais, lets go home." She was sure that all her friends would want to gossip about this...
... though maybe it was best to keep it from her living friends for a while.
