The Nibi was sealed inside Haseo when he was merely a baby after his older brother sacrificed himself to perform the forbidden seal. Both his parents are simple villagers in Sunagakure and have raised their son to be a bright and upstanding citizen of Suna. After much debate, he was allowed to attend the Ninja Academy and graduated as the top swordsman of the class, though his ninjutsu was rather lacking. Becoming the first shinobi in his family since he did not know of his brother, Haseo now is ready to walk down the Path of the Shinobi. Though he himself is yet aware of his brother's sacrifice, ever since he became a genin he has been feeling a prescense constantly watching him
On his first day after graduating the academy, Haseo was told to meet with the Kazekage. Seeing for the first time, it was here that he met the Kazekage and heard of an organization called Akatsuki for the very first time. Apparantly they are a group of missing shinobis seeking the jinchurukis. Not knowing what a jinchuruki was, Haseo headed to the training grounds where he met Havick. As it turned out Havick is the host for the 7 tailed demon, or the jinchuruki. Awing at his power, Haseo decided to begin training and headed home.
Once home, his father and mother told him that they were also shinobis from Konoha and Kiri. Giving him his brother's sword, the First Tsurugi, Haseo has now been doing special training in weaonry with his mother and father. After running around the entire village several times with 200 pounds of weight strapped to him, Haseo went to eat at the Ramen shop. It was here where he had breakfast with Atsuka Hyuuga. Forming a brief friendship with the boy, Haseo went straight back to his training.
After Haseo headed back home, Atsu followed and even had a sparring match with Haseo. After a couple of heated blows, they both went inside to have dinner along with Haseo's parents. After a nice meal together and some exchange of words, Haseo and Atsu headed back to the training grounds in order to finish the spar that was interupted before. During the sparring match, Haseo was about to loose when he heard a voice within himself. The monster sealed inside was let loose as Haseo transformed into the Nibi, the two tailed demon. Before he could even stop it, his evil and malice seeped out of him. Atsu, shocked to find out that his best friend was a demon host, threw away his sand headband and abandoned Sand. Afterwards, in order to tame the beast, the Kazekage activated his demon, the Hachibi in order to restrain Haseo.
Waking up at the Suna Hospital, Haseo learned of what he had done and left Sand behind him. He was cursed, and he wouldn't let his curse plague the village that he loves. Going to his parents he found out the truth, his brother sacrificed himself in order to save the village and grant his little brother the power to protect himself. Walking out on his family, Haseo headed to Otogakure in order to find meaning in his life.
