Tiredness at work
We all get it, after lunch we would just love to curl up and sleep for an hour or two, well unfortunately we do not live in Italy, Spain, Mexico or any European country that shuts down for 2-4 hours every day to sleep or have a siesta. So we must get through those last 4 hours of the day the best way we can.
How? It is easy, "So you say" I do this every day myself and it helps.
1. Drink water a big mouthful every ten minutes, tiredness is due to dehydration
2. Walk around the office up and down a flight of stairs - your blood is pooling in your feet after sitting for too long and the blood is draining away from your head, making you drowsy.
3. See a client, read some paperwork, type a document, write a letter, do something with your hands, keep busy constantly for those last hours.
4. Make phone calls, help a fellow colleague if you have free time on your hands - don’t sit around doing nothing, you have to keep moving.
Try these tips and if you have any others that work, please let us know and I will add them to the list.
5. Eat every two hours. When you finish breakfast, note the time and eat a piece of fruit, a muesli bar, nuts, some vegetable sticks and salsa, some unbuttered popcorn, a small tub of yoghurt unless you have lactose intolerance, anything that is light, healthy and low in calories, sugar and fat. Try the two hour rule and see how you go
6. Do a spring clean, empty out every drawer, filing cabinets, and shelves.
7. Fill in your diary, with all the meetings you need to attend, birthdays, who you need to buy cards for, expos you need to attend, tasks you need to complete.
8. Order necessary stationary, clear out computer files, delete old messages, order new catalogues, from frequently used companies, etc, have fun and keep busy, you'll be too busy to realise your tired.
9. Have a foot rest under your desk for lifting the legs and aligning the pelvis and hips.
10. Every hour get up and stretch four parts of the body whether it is one of the following- Neck, Shoulders, Arms, Hips, Stomach, Back, Legs, and Ankles. It is up to you, but may help keeping you active and improve productivity.
11. Every hour get up and go for a 5 minute walk.
Try these ideas and let me know how you go.
