Beating Bordeom

We all know that eating due to boredom is quite a common practice, and one that only leads to disaster: weight gain. With this program, boredom should not be an issue when there is cooking and exercising to be done every day. However if it does happen to strike and you find yourself at a loose end, here are a few ideas to get you back in the right frame of mind:

Read the paper.

Find a new book to read.

If it’s winter, learn to knit and make yourself a scarf.

If it’s summer, sew yourself a fun a-line skirt.

Find out about a course in something you’ve always wanted to do.

Do a home facial, manicure or pedicure.

Catch up via phone, email, and face book with old friends and family.

Take a long, warm relaxing bath with oils and calming music.

Start prepping tomorrow’s meals.

Tackle some of those jobs you’ve been putting off, but break them down.

Start a food garden. Doesn’t need to be big. Mines a few pots on my deck because I don’t have a garden. You can plant tomatoes, chilli, basil, coriander, parsley, mint, chives, spinach, rainbow chard and four different lettuces. So when you might be feeling a little bored head out with a cup of tea, potter in your garden, and pick lettuce & herbs you will need for dinner.

By the time you’ve done some of these it will be time to get your next meal ready!

I've been beating boredom by studying Diploma in Fitness as well as going to the gym, attending and helping at church, going to bible study group and doing workplacement.

I'm always busy and whilst it is hectic I am enjoying it a great deal.

What are you doing to not be bored during down time?

Pick a time period in the last 50 years whether it be 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's even 90's and live without something for a week keep a journal explaining what it is you have given up why you have given it up and how you are living without it in your life, I only watch 2 hours of TV a day no more than that, it has been hard because there are alot of good shows I'm not watching now, but the quiet time has been good and my electricity bill will be reduced the next time I receive as I switch all my appliances off at the wall.

Another way to avoid boredom setting in is write letters to friends and family.

Learn to meditate

Sleep more

Read the bible

Mow the lawns

Get rid of weeds

Volunteer at local nursing home, hospital, soup kitchen etc.
