A large, kind of barren training ground. It's pretty standard issue, like the rest
of the Academy, with a large sparring field, targets for throwing kunai and
shuriken, and multiple training tools, like dummies and those weird things
with sticks poking out of them that you have to kick and duck under to
practice dodging. It's a pretty great place to practice taijutsu, because of it's
openness and many training dummies, as well as fire and lightning
techniques, because there's nothing to burn down, and earth techniques,
because of the large quantities of bare earth to practice with. Many an
Academy student can be found here, practicing their forms with dreams of
becoming the next Hokage, or working studiously (or not) on the next
technique their sensei assigned them to learn.

"Think fast!" The other genin grabber her wrist, dragging her off in the general direction of the training grounds. 'Great. Just great,' Kaida thought grumpily.

Once there, Kaida pulled her wrist from his hand. "Thanks, but I can walk on my own. Why, in the name of all things shinobi, do you feel the need to throw away a perfectly good afternoon on training?" The kid looked to be about twelve or thirteen. And, Kaida assumed from observing the fight earlier, was part of her team. It was probably best for the two of them to train together, so that they could actually have an ounce of teamwork when they were in actual combat. Nevertheless, Kaida was still sleepy. She sighed, resigning her self to the loss of a nap. Might as well get to know him. "So, what's your name?"

He wouldn't tell me any details, though, said it would be too embarrassing," He scrutinized her studiously, as though wondering exactly what could be so embarrassing, then continued, "Anyway, Kaida-san, I'm sorry for earlier, but Oliver-sensei had this murderous look in his eye, and I deemed it best to, ah, skedaddle,"
"So," he winked, pulling out Eisenmeteor, his colossal blade, and spinning it around expertly in his hand with a whoosh before laying the cutting edge across his back. As usual, it showed no inclination to cut him. "What do you wanna learn with your jutsu ticket?" どのように殺人者のためふさわしい

"Think fast!" He introduced himself as Hikaru Nakatsukasa, and seemed to already know a bit about Kaida. When he got to the bit about how "embarrassing" her exam was, Kaida rolled her eyes. "So, I couldn't get one of the jutsus instantaneously. I'm sure that your exam went perfectly?" Kaida looked at Hikaru. He was composed, scrupulously polite, and seemingly intelligent. "Okay, scratch that. It probably did." She glanced at the tickets she had in her hand, thinking. It would probably be best to master the basic D-ranking jutsus first, but she did not want to split the tickets into D-ranks. She still had a few D-rank tickets left over from the academy. "Would you prefer to work on C- or D-rank stuff? I'm up for an hour or two of training on either." If it was C-rank jutsus, she'd go for Shunshin no Jutsu or Oboro Bunshin no Jutsu. D-rank, she would probably focus on Dochū Senkō.

╚═════════════════╝ "Well," said Hikaru with a smile that was surprisingly nondemeaning, "Seeing as D-Rank Jutsu don't require tickets, why don't we go get you a summon? I've been looking to train with something other then humans for a while, because humans have very repetitive attack styles. I was planning on modifying the Hyuuga's Gentle Fist to suit my own talents anyway,"
He pointed first in one direction, saying, "The Land of Beasts is that way," then pointed the other way and said, "Or we can go and spar for a while to work on taijutsu. I vote the Land of the Beasts," どのように殺人者のためふさわしい

"Think fast!" "Land of Beasts sounds fine." Kaida shrugged, and then had to suppress a laugh. It was funny, how he stood like a scarecrow with both arms pointing. "Come on, let's go. If we get this done fast enough, I can still have that tea." With a slight yawn Kaida turned and marched off in the direction that Hikaru had indicated. As an afterthought, she grabbed his wrist, tugging him along. 'Taste of your own darn medicine.'
She had never tried summoning, and wondered what it would be like. Now that she considered it, having an extra teammate on the field of battle would be beneficial, especially a non-human.

"Think fast!" Kaida stopped, annoyed both with being repremanded by someone a head shorter than her and with herself for the mistake he had pointed out. She let go of his wrist, crossing her arms. "Big, bad forest it may be, but don't you think we can handle it? I've got my shadows, and you've got that stupidly large sword of yours. I say we just go gallivanting off, and see what section we get killed in." Her sarcasm was sharpened by mild irritation. If they had to debate every point they would never get through the jutsu, much less get back for that tea. An idea sparked, causing Kaida to break out in a smile. "You don't suppose it's possible to summon objects, like say, drinks?" Now that would be useful. She was lost in her own head, thinking of the uses. Tea, of course. Weapons would be practical, not to mention healing supplies. Was there a limit to weight or volume? Kaida vaguely recalled something from class about this subject, but had been using the time for a more useful purpose. Translation: sleeping. Besides, how did a shinobi pack all of that gear onto the battle front? It seemed impractical to use- 'What, where was I?' Mentaly, Kaida backtracked. 'Summoning, beasts, learning jutsus, tea- No. Just learning summoning jutsus. Okay.'
Coming back into the moment, Kaida blinked blankly at Hikaru for a moment, then said, "So, where do you exacting think is a 'safe' enough section for weak little genin like us? I bet it doesn't have anything spectacularly interesting." She was grinning, hoping that he would get the sarcasm.

However, you have to have all the items stored in a scroll or located at one specific place, and then you have to make the correct symbols and lace it with chakra. It's really quite complicated. On top of that, when you store food in scrolls, it will age at normal rates,"
He shook his head and said, "But, that's for another time. Personally, I'd like to be back before nightfall. So, you can choose from a variety of animals, just pick your favorite!"

"Think fast!" "Nice." Kaida nodded. This seemed like a challenge. Storing and summoning items may be complicated, but Kaida, being the competitive girl she was, was sure that she would figure it out eventually. But, first, baby steps. "So, making a contract with a living being is easier than summoning objects? Okay." She was quiet in thought as the walked towards the forest. Smaller creatures would probably be easier. So, go for smarts or agility. Cats, birds, and dogs all fits that description. "How about a bird? Like say, an owl or hawk? How difficult do you think that would be?"
Flight would be extreamly helpful. Messages and surprise attacks would have a higher success rate, and would add another dimention to a battle in an area with no elevation. Besides, most predatory birds were made of muscle. There would be a lot of power packed into their punches. "What about you, Hikaru? What would be your perfect summons creature?"

They're unique in that you can summon flocks of them as one summon, like dogs or snakes," He felt kind of abashed at explaining all of this to an older ninja, but he was the brother of a Jonin, and a top-notch one at that, so he pushed that feeling aside.
"As for myself, I already have a contract with the kitsune. Lord Death introduced me to them, which is why I'm in his debt. I love them because, on top of the fact that they can specialize in any element and gain more as they grow like a ninja does, they also have such powerful Transformation Jutsu that they can become a solid clone of you or become a weapon for you to use. I love them. My kitsune is Drepana, a Metal Element Kitsune. But that's enough about kitsune, birds are definitely a good choice. Should we be off, then?" どのように殺人者のためふさわしい

"Think fast!" Kaida nodded. "Sounds good." As they set off, she wondered about the kitsune. Judging by their ability for specialization and growth, they must be formidable, indeed. Especially if the hokage was connected with them. Yet again, Kaida felt out of place with the younger boy's power. Perfect exam, powerful teamwork with his other teammate, and now this bond with the kitsune. She glanced at him. Other than his extreme politeness, he seemed to be pretty ordinary on the outside. She let her gaze fall away. Something was not right with Hikaru. For now, it was not her business.
As they entered the summoning area, Kaida cleared her throat. "So, this summoning. I know the technique and hand signs from the Academy, but I'm not too experienced in the actual thing. Care to demonstrate?" It may not be her business, but that did not mean she could not gather information.

╚═════════════════╝ "Certainly," Hikaru said, preparing to demonstrate his summoning. He felt the other girl was appraising him, which he didn't mind, but she seemed to feel out of place here. His Bijuu's ability was to pick up the emotions of others, and he had spent a long enough time with Kai to be able to pick up some of the more delicate emotions she had. He sensed a slight trepidation, which he assumed was due to his incredibly formal style of speaking for his age.
He took himself out of his thoughts and focused on the task at hand. He pulled a necklace out from his chest, which was shaped as an intricate circle design, filled with a red liquid that looked suspiciously like blood. Turns out, it was. He tweaked a corner of the necklace, and a drop of blood spilled from it onto a spiral shaped mark on his right palm. He flowed swiftly through a series of handsigns, then pressed his hand to the ground. A series of symbols ran across the ground, making a circular pattern, then immediately disappeared in a small poof of smoke. When the smoke cleared, a beautiful pale blue fox with bright silver markings was standing there. It had three flowing tails, that were constantly in motion. It looked regal as all hell. Well, that wouldn't last.
"Hiya, boss," the little fox said, with what could only be described as a Brooklyn accent, "Nice ta see ya! Who's the dame?"
"Aenean Falces," Hikaru admonished, using his little partner's full name, 'Where are your manners? This is my new teammate Kaida Nara, which, by affiliation, makes her your partner as well. Behave,"
"Yeah, yeah, boss, whatevah ya say," he drawled, "So what did ya need me for?"
"Well, I was demonstrating summoning with a contract to Kaida, who does not have a contract,"
"Good Lord, is she brain-dead or something?"
"Aenean, if you say something rude about her again, I'll chuck you back into the nursery and let the toddlers have at you,"
The little fox seemed to pale under his fur and squeaked, "Sorry, boss,"
"Who should you be apologizing to?" Hikaru asked calmly. Aenean grumbled something unintelligible, then turned to Kaida, inclined his head, and said, "Real sorry, ma'am,"
Hikaru nodded his approval and said, "Okay, Aenean, we're going to the Canopy of the Shinja Woods, would you like to accompany us?"
"Sure thing, boss, who's gonna keep your a** out of the fire?"
Hikaru rolled his eyes and plucked the little fox off of his head, plopping him onto the boy's head.
"Shall we go, Kaida? I'll lead, if you don't mind," he asked, then leaped into the trees, heading towards the thicker part of the forest.
