I know this isn't an entirely themed movie but there is a scene in a Civil War movie called Gods and Generals where two Irish brigades, One confederate and one Union, fight eachother. Both sides are crying as they kill eachother and when the Union group retreats the Confederates give them a big huzzah and the Irish pipes are playin' in the background. *sigh* It makes me so sad... I tear up every time I watch it. And that's alot for me to do. cry

Yeah, I had to watch Michael Collins in school. What I hate in movies sometimes is Irish accents because when they put them on they sound Scottish to me?

Man About Dog (hi-larious)

Boy Eats Girl? I haven't seen it but the bit where smantha mumba is in some lil' car thing and she's like driving away from zombies or vampires or something was shot in my brother's friend's front garden. Basically the movie was shot in my area. They blocked off the roads.

King Arthur. Was shot in Powerscourt and I went there and there was all this PINK (i think it's fake blood) left in the trees and most of the trees had been cut away.

Veronica Gerin. I'm scared of this because it's a true story and it happened in Dublin on the motarway someone just pulled up beside her car and shot her... that simple. One seen of that was shot in this old hotel carpark behind my house but I think the scene was cut out.

I know the accents were sooo crapy its like your making a film about one of the most important leaders in Ireland and some of the most important events ever and they can' t even get someone to put on a proper Cork accent.

Man about Dog was sooo funny!!

Boy eats girl..haven't seen it, don't wana see it. Samantha Mumba..yawn time machine was so bad!!

Saving Private Ryan was filmed in Wexford I think.
There filming Lassie in Ireland aswell, can't remember where.

King Arthur was good to! the driver of the carriage with the supposed bishop in it was from where I live! i know, sad, but we have Roy Keane who played with and was scouted while playing with our loclal soccer club, Sonia O' Sullivan, apparently Fiona Shaw (Aunt Petunia) is from here aswell I think. Thats it so we'll take what were given when ot come to famous people, oh oh oh!! I forgot someone..wait for it...Sinead Shepherd!! All together OHHH AHHH!! Nah she's lovely!!

yeah, the opening scene to saving private ryan was filmed on a beach in wexford, half the crew stayed in my bro in laws parents guest house. but the rest of the film was shot elsewhere.

I wouldn't call King Arthur an irish movie, it's only real connection was that it was filmed in ireland, loads of my friends were extras.

Has anyone seen breakfast on pluto, its the new neil jordon movie (the guy who directed Michael Collins) and it's fantastic!! I love it, its so sweet and so deep and topical.

Michael Collins goes without saying that it is propably the best and most well known example of irish cinema. It's a movie that really amazed me.

Has anyone seen intermission or inside i'm dancing either?

It's been a while but I've seen Inside I'm Dancing, one of the best films I've seen.

I think that's the USA title for Inside I'm Dancing, but I'm not sure.
