I recently bought a friend some recycled ammo for target practice. It looked a lot like regular ammo but the shells were more pale and silvery than brass.

What's your view on recycled ammo? Is it dangerous?

It seems to be a bit cheaper than regular ammo and if it was a good idea, the difference would cover the cost of the admissions to the place we bought it from.

Thanks.

technically it's not "recycling"

it's still usung new primers, powder and projectiles.

and yes it usually works very well if YOU were the one who reloaded the brass. and that the brass is in good shape.

I dont trust anyone else's reloads unless it was done by me or someone I knew personally.

some local cartridge companies might use the lowest amount of powder possible or give inconsistent or unproportionate amounts of propellant and could be dangerous. some of them do it right though.

from personal experience, I made the mistake of trusting a local cartridge company with some 38SP ammo, turns out they used minimal propellant and on 2 occasions the bullet GOT STUCK INSIDE THE ******** BARREL and fortunately I was able to catch both of them and tapped them out with a rod before firing again.

make sure he knows to listen for any off sounds the ammo might make when shooting such as an odd sounding or soft sounding pop, lack of recoil compared to other shots, nothing happening, etc.

because if it does get stuck and you go to fire a second shot it can be FATAL to you or the people next to you.

as for me i'm never buying any again, ever.

to answer your question, yes it can be very dangerous.
