Personality: Ronan is at the awkward age of wanting to be older than he is, while not quite managing it. He gets along well with older children, even adults. He is calm, and has a quick wit, and can be surprisingly mature at times, but he still has some childish tendencies. He's not as capable as others of controlling his emotions, which he wears a little too much on his sleeve. Because he's so young for a weyrling, he sometimes gets the impression that people are just waiting for him to slip up, to confirm their thoughts that he's 'just a child', which makes him a somewhat suspicious of others. And when he does mess up, it feeds back into that negative cycle which makes it difficult for him to regain composure. But for now, at least, he is still riding the high of impressing; and with Burmeth by his side, it's hard for anything to get him down, especially while his brown is so set on cheering him up.

He's a little too honest, both in the sense that he is a little to blunt, and that he's a little to likely to take people at their word. He's brave, though a little foolish. He stands up for others without a second thought and speaks his mind without fear of punishment or politics. He's a hard-worker, who's determine to rise above his brothers' shadows. Despite putting the 'brat' in weyrbrat when he was younger, he has a good work ethic and a good sense of responsibility, which are surprising for his age.

At his best, he's capable of making a mistake and just making light of it, putting others at their ease by showing people it's okay not to be perfect. At his worst, he's emotional and easy to upset, though while he may rage a little, he usually becomes withdrawn before he gets angry. Fortunately, he's young and his moods bounce back quickly. Perhaps his best quality about him is that he never holds a grudge, or drags old arguments into the present, to help his case.

History: Ronan is the child of a greenrider and a brownrider who are long-term weyrmates. He comes from a relatively large family, by weyr standards. He has two older brothers and an older sister, all of whom have impressed, and a younger sister who is close to his age. Since he and his sister were close as young children, they were both given to the same foster parent, a nice old woman who's a cook in the Lower Caverns. His sister is bossy and annoying, but the two of them are close and make notorious partners in crime, and they loved doing all the usual weyrbrat stuff, climbing around in secret caverns, crashing firelizard hatchings, and generally making a ruckus. His sister has a gold firelizard and as a present she gave him one of her eggs, but Ronan was disappointed when he got a green (a girl!) and named her Trouble, because she reminded him of his sister. The two have a violent love-hate relationship.

His first time around, Ronan was only just old enough to Stand, and it took a lot of arguing on his and his mother's part just to let him. Despite being young and having plenty of opportunities, Ronan was desperate to impress as quickly as possible so he can start his life as a dragon-rider. The quicker he impressed, the more time he gets to spend with his dragon, he says! Eventually they let him in just to 'pad things out'. No one thought he would actually impress first time. However, Burmeth proved them all wrong when the rambunctious young dragon chose 'R'nan'.

Because of his age, R'nan was held back several years from active duty, but at 16, he's finally ready to join the fighting wings. Burmeth is at his full Behemoth size now, practically a bronze, and his rider's not all short stuff anymore either!
