So I'm mincing details and such. Expect a campaign to be ready in the next few days. I will be making horribly crude maps and such ninja along with a basic story introduction. Once everyone who wishes to participate has made a character - take your time, there's no rush - I will develop an instance that will work on launching those characters successfully. Although we may start with everyone on their own, and working towards each other, if manageable, I prefer to start the players together in a group. If someone feels it's critical they enter the game on their own terms, that's fine too. I understand everyone has their own invested ideas on character development, etc. Reason for feedback prior to launch, is say I make a puzzling, trap filled dungeon, and everyone's playing a barbarian... that could get difficult >.> Or if everyone's playing ranger's/rogues, and all you have to do is outsmart the ogre encampment to get where you're going. Don't get me wrong, I think everyone's character should have opportunities to shine, but I also want to make sure everyone has a sense of usefulness to boot. 3nodding
Expect a reasonable number of encounters appropriate to group class and level. I am known to mix attributes of some creatures, etc. as to keep players from infusing their characters with incidental out of character knowledge. If someone has an appropriate lore or knowledge base, I will Pm them with information other people might not so readily know.
I'm looking at starting the game at level 2. So if anyone wants to get a head start making a character, that is highly encouraged. 3nodding Feel free to make use of the core site material, as well as anything from the player's handbook. Right now, let's try keeping it simple and to those materials. Once everyone is comfortable with what's going on, we can always add other content later.

Okay. Haven't had the chance to do maps yet, but here's the jist.
I'm starting everyone on a boat. Where the boat came from matters not so much. You can all elaborate on backstories as you see fit, etc. This boat is on it's way to Trenain, a port/trade city off the coast of Alabasta. A map will be provided soon, as it will be public in game knowledge anyway. At present, you all came to Alabasta not knowing a whole lot about it to begin with. But there's a lot of stories that have made rounds about the many mysteries haunting its many cities, towns, and villages. These stories are abundant enough to draw on priests and clerics looking be rid of the evils that allegedly plague Alabasta. With as many stories of liches, lost treasures, riches to made, and mysterious unsolved, it's reason enough for anyone to make their journey. In this case, many of you have heard these stories. Feel free to even make some up amongst yourselves. 3nodding But with all you've heard, you all know very little about the continent. Its inhabitants are abundant. Dwarves living and working alongside elves. Gnomes and orc labor dominating the work force. You've all heard many strange things, but don't know quite what to make of it. You'll just have to get there and see.
The boat is a standard transport (capacity 50). At present there's nothing special about it, aside from the variety of passengers. There's a handful of orcs, two gnomes, one female elf who isn't talking to anyone, and a whole bunch of restless adventuring humans. Feel free to interact and start posting once you've made a character. I'm sure others will jump in and even if they don't there's plenty of NPCs to make things happen.

If you want, I can draw maps... I have a binder full of maps I have drawn for our table's campaigns. Just offering. wink
PM me with what you would like to include on your map, and I will get on it.
As for a character for me... I am not well acquainted with anything beyond second edition... I wouldn't mind to watch the game play out, and kinda get a feel for it.
I busted out my third edition books, and it just seems a bit beyond me yet. I might build kinda build a character as I figure it out, but it might be awhile. Our table is getting back together, since its the slow season around here, and I get to do our reunion campaign. LOL
I would love to offer my artistic services to this campaign though, I think that is my favorite part of D&D anyway. xd

LOL I would love to offer my artistic services to this campaign though, I think that is my favorite part of D&D anyway. xd Oh, that'd be awesome. 3nodding I remember when I was transitioning from 2.0 to 3.0 and 3.5. It was a bit to take in at first. If you stick with core it's not too bad and easy to catch on thereafter. But if you want to hop in later, that's fine. No one's really started just yet, but maybe soon. And if you're willing to go so far as to make maps, I have about 30 different progressive scenarios pre-plotted, but they are easily adaptable to various environments. If you're going to make maps, feel free to name these places as you see fit. 3nodding The necessary staples are: one central kingdom, surrounded by mountains. It is led by a Human King and an Elven Queen (further details on that to be announced). But the kingdom is very large and prosperous. Four major cities that are somewhat nearby the kingdom. One needs be a city of magic, another needs be a city of rogues, the third a city of Dwarven/Elf communion (bear with me on that - there are reasons) And a Gnome-Orc ran city that dominates most of the trade and trade routes throughout the mainland. I want eight smaller towns/villages spread out variously for minor or progressive events that lead or even deal with the larger cities. I have encounters for all levels in most any place the party will wish to go. Some may have to wait, however. Feel free to name these at your leisure. If you'd rather not do names, I can populate a list for them later. And if you already have stuff, or would be willing to do dungeon skits, etc, that would be great, as I may or may not have time for some of those. The basis of the main maps will be public knowledge and there are plenty of maps to go around. This kingdom is also somewhat of a tourist attraction.

Considering all I've read here on input, no biggie really. The game is ready to go whenever. As soon as there's interest in getting started we'll get the ball rolling. No rush.

Is this game still going on... My relay for life thing was last night. I am paying for it, but I walked 9 miles... before my knee said, hell no. I can have my character up rather quickly. My idea is a necromancer, but I wanted to ask a few things first. Quote: Corpsecrafter Undead you raise or create are tougher than normal. Prerequisite: none Required for: Bolster Resistance, Deadly Chill, Destruction Retribution, Hardened Flesh, Nimble Bones Benefit: Each undead you raise or create with any necromancy spell gains a +4 enhancement bonus to Strength and +2 hit points per Hit Die. Quote: Enhanced Undead (Ex) Any time a necromancer using this variant creates an undead creature (such as with animate dead, create undead, or create greater undead), all undead creatures created gain a +4 enhancement bonus to Strength and Dexterity, and two additional hit points per Hit Die. This ability does not affect the number or Hit Dice of animated creatures that the necromancer can create or control. A necromancer using this variant does not gain additional spells per day for being a specialist wizard. Quote: Skeletal Minion A 1st-level necromancer using this variant can begin play with an undead minion (a human warrior skeleton). Obtaining this minion takes 24 hours and uses up magical materials that cost 100 gp. This creature is a loyal servant that follows the necromancer's commands and accompanies her on adventures if desired. If the skeletal minion is destroyed, the necromancer suffers no ill effects and may replace it by performing a ceremony identical to the one that allowed her to obtain her first servant. At 1st level, the skeleton is completely typical, but it gains power as the necromancer gains levels. The skeleton has a number of Hit Dice equal to the necromancer's class level. Add one-half the necromancer's class level to the skeleton's natural armor bonus. Add one-third of the necromancer's class level to the skeleton's Strength and Dexterity scores. A necromancer using this variant permanently gives up the ability to obtain a familiar. Can I use, Quote: Obtain Familiar Prerequisite: Knowledge (arcana) 4 ranks, arcane caster level 3rd Benefit: You can obtain a familiar in the same manner as a sorcerer or wizard (see the sorcerer class description and the accompanying sidebar, page 52 of the Player's Handbook). As with a sorcerer or wizard, obtaining a familiar takes 24 hours and uses up magic materials worth 100 gp. For the purpose of determining familiar abilities that depend on your arcane caster class level, your levels in all classes that allow you to cast arcane spells stack. To keep my Skeleton minion leveling up beside me, as I enter a prestige class? Master Specialist if you are curious ... or if you let me XP...
