It was an early morning. The human had just arrived from a local friend's breeding hutch. The human had agreed to help their friend launch a breeding farm. With the 2 bunnies returning to her private hutch, she also brought one of the babies. The rest had been given away. When they were added, noone had thought to check to make sure noone was missing. Why would anyone be missing? Oh... but... none of the returning three noticed much at first.
The summer sun was climbing high into the sky in the middle of the morning. The heat waxed on while Thumper walked back and forth. He looked here and there. He was pensive. He kept sniffing the hingest and handles into the hutch. He didn't like this foreign smell. A smell unfamiliar to him. None of the humans here smelled like this. He turned to yell at them all. "ROLL CALL. LINE UP ON THE SIDE..."
Joe Louis cocked an eye at him. He postured with his red and white arms crossed feeling vexed at being hollered at when he had only just got back. "And.. why should anyone bother to listen to you? You like to think since you were first in the hutch that you run this place... Well.. hate to break it to you.. but I don't take orders.. certainly not from a weakling like yourself."
Joe's son the little tiger looked up proudly at his father for being so bold and rebellious. He hoped he'd be like that one day.
Thumper buried his face in his palm. He rubbed at his eyes. he looked around to see if anyone had missed it. He looked to ask his daughter Tsu'zi, but she wasn't there. He saw the trap door on the floor ajar. Great... she had wandered off.. Just when he could have used her help.
Then, he looked to the Berry. "Hey... doesn't it seem almost too spacious in here? Seems like we're missing someone?"
She just looked at him befuddled. She was usually busy eating. She sat up near the food dish. "Hmm... they could just be out taking a walk though." She went back to her food.
Poor Thumper went to sulk near the trap door. He pulled it up with his foot. Then, he slipped down under their hutch closing it behind him, so the new babies wouldn't get out. He thought maybe he should visit the breeding barns behind the house. maybe their friends had gone to visit some of the rabbits their human kept in teh barn. He knew the human breeding and selling bunnies would only bring trouble, but noone listened to him.
