Region: Sinnoh
Location: Canalave City

Things could have been worse, the Snivy couldn't dispute this fact. He'd never had much inclination towards the optimistic, but following a weighty discussion with his cohorts he had taken what he could from past events and learnt from them. It wasn't often that he failed in his pursuits, in fact one could have said that this was the first time in quite a few years, but there was no use in weeping over spilled milk. His pride was dented and his ego was a touch bruised but he had endured far worse. All things considered, his 'spectacular' failure was quite tame in comparison to the events that had occured in the company of his former trainer.

...At least he hadn't blown off his eyebrows.

Nevertheless he was back to square one and with little inspiration to be found, the green-haired Gijinka had elected to pursue other aspirations for the time being. As they said, it was better to look away from an idea for a short time and then return to it with fresh eyes - that way he would spot all the small errors and would be able to take measures to correct them. It was with this in mind that he now found him in the harbour of Canalave City, in the Sinnoh region.

Fresh off the ship, the rather tall man strode away from the broad gangplank and paused, coiling his fingertips around the railing of the dock. It was here that he surveyed the scene, affording himself a brief moment to appreciate the view and the fresh breeze that swept about his person and sent a shiver down his spine. All things considered, the location was a rather pleasant one... The air was significantly cleaner than at home and the lack of towering skyscrapers permitted the sun to dance across his face; a small part of him quivered in delight at this, a renewed energy sweeping across his form.

Well, this really should have been of no surprise, he was a grass type after all!

He refrained for staying in one spot for longer than he deemed necessary and satisfied that he had given the city enough of an appreciative glance, he set about ascending the stairwell and heading towards a location of immediate interest. Where inspiration was lacking one should seek out examples and where better to do this than a library? Ah yes, the male may have elected to take a vacation but he could never completely detatch himself from his work. Canalave City was world renowned for its library, so where better a place to visit?

A smile crept on to his lips and he slipped his hands into his pockets, moving onwards towards the fabled village situated in the northern most region of Canalave.

This day was no different from any other since he'd came to this place. Since arriving, the Piplup had fallen into a routine, a ritual in which he stuck to everyday. In the morning it would begin with work, straight away. The lithe man would shower, dress, indulge in a light breakfast, and head out on his way to work... a place in which he would not reveal to anyone. Thankfully the building he had to enter was very vague, and unidentifiable to any particular area of practice, as it held no signs, or windows, aside from the one's further up it's tall frame. There were only numbers listed above the iron clad door, and that was all.
After work, Felek would leave the mysterious place, and go on his way as if nothing had happened. At this time it would have been around closer to evening than afternoon, the sun just tipping off from it's climax of the day, and making it's slow decline towards the horizon. What had drawn Felek to this place to begin with was the knowledge that a grand library was built in the town. One that held books of varying interests and topics. This was highly important to him, as he was still quite ignorant to the way of the human world... and still struggling, though he wouldn't admit it, to adjusting. It had been one of the first few days of his transformation that the Piplup had heard of this town and it's promises. Not only the library, but as well as the shipyard.... and the beautiful view of the sea. Of course, being a water Pokemon, he was naturally captivated and intrigued by the thought of such a town. It held everything he needed, and was looking for.

At this time, it was just a few hours past him getting off work. The air outside was cool, holding and wafting the delightful scent of the sweet sea's perfume. It filled the whole town, like burning candle in a room. Today wasn't busy, nor were many days in the rather quiet and docile town. Everyone kept to their own schedule's and did their own thing. Soft clicking of shoes, and the soft rustling of the long steely blue cape with rimmed fluff were the trademark sounds that would be heard from the Piplup. Those deep pools of blue, equally mirroring that of the sea's, showed no emotion, aside from a very evident guard that they held. As he would pass others by, he wouldn't spare them a glance or acknowledgement, his path decided, and his mind intent on moving forth. He was already in the library, when a sudden thumping, followed by a influx of more to the ground sounded, making most everyone in the quiet place turn to look. Apparently, a visitor, a clumsy one, had knocked over a whole row of books from a shelf, causing a few disgruntled members to give glares or shakes of their heads. Felek, on the other hand, simply watched as the embarrassed customer went to picking the books up, along with her little group of friends. How careless...
Perusing along the "Life and Home" aisle, those deep blue's skimmed along the spines of the placed books, reading them swiftly, before moving on. He didn't linger too long in the area, silently gliding to the one on the other side. "World Culture". It held maps, and customs of the many towns and regions. This was more closer to what he needed.

The cold had bitten into his skin at far greater speed than he had appreciated and as a result, the Snivy hadn't spent much time outdoors. Instead, the gijinka had made a swift approach to the library and wandered across the threshold rather promptly. That instant in which he stepped through the door was one of sweet bliss and as he released his hold upon the handle, he allowed to heavy door to fall shut. Suffice to say that the Snivy had a healthy appreciation for warmth and Canalave's Library knew how to ensure that their ventilation systems worked well!

Alas, it was inappropriate for him to stand on the threshold for too long, particularly when his rather tall frame would block many entry and exit from the premises. With this in mind, he moved away from the entrance and swept down the aisle situated between the many rows of high reaching bookshelves. Each seemed to be organised in sections pertaining first to subject and then area of influence - all in all, the place was incredibly well maintained and Narcissus concluded that the humans knew how to do their job.

Nevertheless, there was no point in dwelling for an unnecessary amount of time on issues that were irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. Rather than ponder further, he drifted into the sections that seemed to favour geography, anthropology and sociology - these seemed like a good set of subjects to begin his research with. If he found the right information, he would move on to more historical documentation but until he found something that would be worth something to him, he would settle in here.

Decidedly distracted, the man began to drift down the smaller aisle between two cases, his gaze fixed above his head as he inspected the books higher up on the shelf. Unfortunately for Felek, Narcissus's powers of observation were lacking in these moments and the taller gijinka was right on course to collide with the water pokemon!

Those delicate and nimble fingers stroked along a few of the book's spines, in slight to feel the ridges as well as to follow the path of the etched letters. He wasn't as interested in the author's so much as the titles that would decide whether he'd take further investigation on the book. Though it wasn't necessarily the right thing to do, judging a book by it's cover, it was all the Piplup knew how to do from the many challenges and trying events in his past. Often times the exterior could tell just enough of what you needed to know... Thus why the effeminate man kept such a cold mask on his rather lovely features. If he portrayed a adamant front, then he would be spared any confrontation; at least hopefully...

As his eye was caught to a rich teal dyed hardback book, his slender fingers formed around the binding, and pulled the literature out carefully, easing it onto his other hand which was slightly hidden behind his cloak, and splayed to serve as a platform. Along the spine the title was carved in silver lettering, reading "World Guide". That seemed to fit just what he needed, and what he was looking for. Feeling a bit hopeful now, he opened the book just as gingerly, deep blue eyes darting about the pages rapidly, soaking up the provided information.
It was how he became so engrossed, and oblivious to his surroundings... for what seemed like the first time. The book held most of what he was looking for. So there were other cold area's... more than two though. That would serve for more trips around... As he was delving further into the book, a sudden press of mass caused him to tense and jerk from his graceful upright postition, to see what had caused such a disturbance. Those neat brows furrowed slightly in the center, his finger tips creeping with ice as one of his hands shot out to try and resist the force... but was a bit too late, causing him to topple to the ground. Falling thankfully on his bottom, he simply grit his teeth behind finely lined lips, hiding the obvious discomfort and irritation. Gaze snapping up to what had been such an annoyance, the crystallization on his fingers began to retract slowly. The man before him... that tail... Another like himself, it seemed. Ever so slightly, a glare appeared from the Piplups stare, but it reverted back just as quickly, like a twitch, and he was working on standing back up.... before he noticed that the book he'd been so interested in was a bit more loose in his hand... the binding damaged..

Not one of his finest moments, but the collision with the Piplup was unavoidable and sure enough, Felek toppled to the ground. Admittedly Narcissus hadn't hit him with too much ferocity, but surprise always had a way of supplying a greater level of force than normal. Thus it was with a slightly delayed response time that the Snivy paused, blinked owlishly at where the obstruction should have been in front of him...and then finally looked down. Fortunately for him, he made no attempts to laugh at Felek's predicament and instead, elected to raise a brow at the gijinka.

At first, Narcissus was unaware of the identity of the individual, but as he began to regain his bearings he realised that Felek was, for want of a better phrase, one of his own. Like Narcissus, Felek was a gijinka and exuded an element of supernatural talent - he may not have possessed many features that gave him away, but there was something about him. Alas the Snivy had to admit that like him, Felek's lack of obvious abnormalities would prove beneficial in the long term.

...Although his height might.

"Careful," he murmured finally, flicking his wrist briefly towards the Piplup. It was at this point that the seeds flicked out from underneath his sleeve and glowed briefly, within moments they had extended, growing into a single vine. The foliage wasn't large enough to cause significant damage, but it had a strength that would support Felek's weight as he stood up. Suffice to say that Snivy had few inclinations towards the cold and in the grand scheme of things, he'd rather his fingers weren't turned to ice.

"With the exception of the book," he motioned towards Felek's hand, a clear indication that his powers of observation weren't that bad. "I'm assuming you're in one piece?"

The embarrassment came and went, as did the mild irritation, for the Piplup. No use in dwelling on such an issue... as humiliating as it might have been... His eyes didn't meet to his company's, not once, remaining either engaged with his clothing in straightening it out, or the book in his other hand which now held that break along it's back. These sort of instance's didn't happen too commonly any more with Felek as he'd grown more accustom and well informed of the way the world worked in this form, but it was still enough to make him learn from such mistakes for future occasions. Such as being more aware of his surroundings, regardless of the place...

It was when he felt that strange support that he tensed, and quickly righted himself to get away from what ever it had been! It startled him, to say in the least, but his face remained flat, eyes snapping to the corners so as to get a look at what mysterious force had touched him. Tiny tail under his cloak flickered uneasily, finger tips covered in an icy gloss... but it receded slowly as he fluffed out the cloak, and bent to pluck up the book. Inspecting it, his half-lidded eyes looked along the broken binding. This was no good.. Smooth finger tips graced over the split material, closing the book so as to keep it hidden. This would surely cause some disturbance with the workers here. "Yes, I'm fine." he replied shortly, cloak getting another fluffing out before he brushed his bangs in an idle fashion. It wasn't that big a deal, after all. Just a small tumble. Nothing to get worked up about. But how to explain this book to the employee's of this place...?

Narcissus was no fool and the Piplup definitely wasn't okay, but who was he to pry into the inner workings of the anti-social bird? Admittedly, he was a tad bemused by the fact that this particular specimen completely defied convention but as he had no inclination towards what might have caused the hostility, he would probably never know. Curious as the Snivy might have been, he also recognised there was no value in this information and as a consequence he wouldn't bother to pursue it... Yes, it seemed that Felek was in luck today as he hadn't encountered anyone overly nosey.

However while the snivy may have had no intention of prying into Felek's overall demeanour he did have his red gaze trained upon the book in the Piplup's hand. He had no concern for the binding or its current state (he could still read it, therefore there was nothing wrong with it), but the title had caught his attention and it appeared to be precisely what he needed - when push came to shove he had come here for inspiration and the Piplup was holding the key in his hand.

He pointed ever so slightly towards the book.

"Are you intending to read the book or merely stare at it?" he enquired after a few moments and lifted a brow. "If you are intending to stare at it would you mind if I borrowed it for a short while? There's something I need to uh..." he paused as he considered how best to approach the subject. "Clarify," he said at last, aware that his statement was vague but hazarding a guess that the piplup really wouldn't give a rats a**!
