Perhaps, as they've said of infants, talking to the eggs made them happier. Perhaps it made them angry, but as they were merely a lump of purple goo and rather uninteresting (and immobile) at that point, there was no way for them to express their thoughts on the matter. Whatever the case, though, when one of the eggs did decided to hatch, it was in an all-fired hurry to get out--so violent was its hatching that tiny flecks of purple jello would be smeared on the walls for a while to come.
Like most arthropod nymphs, the new addition is viewed much better against a dark background in strong light. It might almost be said to glow, which may make an interesting story for Eisley.
