The cry of a pup. Running, running... Breath short... Blood. Everywhere. Brother... No, it couldn't be... I have to save him! Brother!

Khaliki heard a devestating howl as he woke, and in his sleepy state he didn't realize it was coming from himself. He stopped, blinking rapidly, trying to clear his mind. When he finally remembered that the dream was in his past, a memory more than a dream, he calmed down and started breathing more regularly. Memories slowly filled his head, the wolves he'd seen, and the distance he had travelled. He knew he was far from his old pack, and it was an odd mixture of relief and grief.

With a grunt he turned onto his side, watching the stars that shone brightly in the clear sky above him. He let out a long, soft sigh, hoping that no wolves in teh area had heard his distress filled call. He doubted any would answer him, anyway. He hadn't met too many wolves in his short time of being there, but the few he did meet were far from friendly.

Khal pushed the thoughts aside and tried to get back to sleep, though it wouldn't grace him with it's presence. Whenever he closed his eyes, he saw only one image: his brother, covered in blood, with a dead puppy in his mouth. Khal opened his eyes again and shook himself off, trying to rid himself of the thought.

Maybe a drink would help. He stood and walked toward the small stream he had found earlier in the day, hoping no other animals were around.

Noyama
User Image Raja was rarely somewhere without reason. But, today, she'd had nowhere to go. Her sister had gone off on her own way, perhaps to find food. Raja had waited for a while, but she was a wolf who grew bored quickly.

How she had stumbled upon this place, she didn't even bother pondering. It seemed like a part of the land that only the blind or perhaps one who wanted to die alone would wander into.

The loud, distressed howl made it seem she was right. Such a noise being the result of a nightmare, no matter what type, was something she didn't know could happen. So, she assumed the other wolf was dying. Painfully, perhaps.

But as she was drinking, there were footsteps. Footsteps and a scent, that of another wolf. The one who had made that wretched noise? Surely, there couldn't be so many out here. There were barely any birds!

"You should try and be more quiet," she said in a flat voice, taking another gulp of water. "You'll disturb others making such noises. Were you dying?"

Twiddle
As he began to dip his head to drink, he heard someone speak and blinked, stopping short, remaining motionless. His dark eyes moved slwoly up, and he could see the sillhouette of another wolf. He was downwind from her, but being that close he could make out a small trace of scent. A female. He lifted his head up to get a better look at her, and stopped himself from staring openly. He finally spoke, and his voice was soft, kind, as it always was, "I apologize. I didn't think there was anyone else here." He smiled to himself at her question, and shook his head. "Oh, no. I wasn't. Just had a..." What could he even call it? "A... nightmare." He finally concluded, since that day was best described as a nightmare anyway.

Pushing the thoughts aside, he dipped his head to take a few gulps from the icey water. It felt wonderful in his throat. When he had quenched his thirst, he looked back up to her, sitting down on the river bank. "And what, if you don't mind my asking, are you doing out here? It's not really a nice place to visit." He said solemnly. His dark eyes glistened in the night, the moon giving them enough light to just barely see eachother.

Noyama
"The blind tend to wander," was Raja's answer. She did wander here aimlessly. Plus, it was quiet, and she generally enjoyed having no company. When she did have some, it was delt with easily enough. This wolf she didn't mind so far.

"If we go somewhere we're not suppose to be, others assume we stumbled there by accident and generally leave us alone." Raising her head, she shook her entire body and sent the water that had gathered on her fur flying in various directions. "Tell me, what's a nightmare?"

Twiddle
Khal blinked, surprised by her comment. She was blind? Well, that would explain why wandering there was nice for her. He pushed the thought aside, watching as she shook off and spoke again. "That's true." He said simply, and then cocked his head at her question. "You've never had one? It's just a bad dream." Although mine was a memory in the 'guise of one, he thought, but didn't say it. "It's nothing, really. I don't see much point in thinking too much about them. They're just dreams." He knew he was wrong; and that dreams were a cry from your subconscious, trying to tell you something. But he wanted to believe they were just dreams.

"I suppose this place isn't all that bad," He said, blatantly changing the subject, "And I'll spare you the mental image by describing it. Do you travel here often?" He asked, wanting to get the conversation as far from himself as he could.

Noyama
Dreams.... Dreams...

Hm, not a word she recognized. It was true the blind had dreams and nightmares, though they contained merely sound. Raja, blind or not, had never had either. And, anyway, she hadn't been blind her entire life. Just after her eyes got clawed out...

"I've examined it some," Raja said and breathed deeply. "It doesn't feel like a very pretty place, which is enough explanation for me, anyway."

The question surprised her slightly. Usually, if she was asked something, it was about her lack of eyes. Casual conversation wasn't a thing she often engaged in. It was a bit dull, but she'd play along.

"I can't say that I do," the beta admitted. "I never really go to any place more than another. Do you live near here?"

Twiddle
Khal nodded, listening as she spoke. He found that he liked the way she talked, and he knew instantly that this was a wolf he could get along with easily. But he wasn't sure if she felt the same.

"That's good." He said, even though he wasn't even sure what he meant. Another question about him, he held back a sigh. "No, not really. I don't particularly live anywhere, not any more." Woops. That wasn't the best answer, this'll just cause more questions. He thought, sighing. He looked back up to her, knowing he needed to ask something to keep the conversation from his past, "Do you live near here?" Was all he could come up with.

Noyama
Maybe Raja sensed something about him. Maybe she was just anti-social. Maybe it was a bit of both.

Whatever it was, she seemed to have no more questions, and to the one he'd just asked she answered in a simple tone, "No." Her ears twitched upward. There were stories that said losing your eyesight made your hearing stronger. Raja would have to say that was true.

Crunch. Crunch.

There was deer walking around not to far. Only when food was nearby did she realize she was hungry. But would it be rude of her to just leave? She never worried about things like that, but her sister, Solan, seemed to.

One more question after all. "Are you hungry?"

Twiddle
Khal was grateful of the silence before her next question. He raised a brow and stood, then nodded. "Yeah, I am." He stuck his nose to the air, getting into hunter mode, and he caught the faintest scent on the wind. Deer maybe? Yeah, deer.

Khal walked over to her, a lot more quiet than he was previously. His ears were perked and at attention, trying to pick up any sound he could. "What did you hear?" He asked, looking at her.

Noyama
"Deer," Raja answered. Just one, but if she had to judge how big by how hard it was walking she'd definately say large enough for both of them to eat their fill.

It wasn't just the grumbles from her stomach, protesting being empty any longer. Raja just felt like killing something. That was one of the crazy, sometimes considered 'violent' quirks about her.

"Shall we, then?"

Twiddle
Khal nodded to her. "Ladies first." He said with a slight smile, his tone reflecting it. He tried to make his voice more animated, so she could more easilly know how he was reacting to her. He figured it was just something he should do.

As they neared the large deer, Khals senses got filled with it; he could hear, smell, see and, almost, taste it. His mouth began to water and he licked his lips. When he spoke it was hardly a whisper, "Tag team or should we just ambush it together?" His eyes never left the deer.

Noyama
Raja wished had eyes, if only so she could roll them before she went on her way. What a stupid thing to say. She wondered how large he was, knowing that she herself was bigger than a normal wolf of her kind. Mm...

Crunch. Crunch. And then a pause.

Had it heard them? Raja wondered as the duo came to a stop. She sniffed the air quietly and twitched her ears. Buck. They could be troublesome little things if they put those antlers to good use. Raja was never quick to maul one unless Solan was with her.

This wolf could substitute, she thought, and with that thought realized she didn't know his name. Perhaps she'd ask when they were done, if she remembered.

"Can you get the neck?" the beta questioned.

Twiddle
Khal smiled at her response, he could tell what she felt by her body language. "No problem." He said, then circled around a little, making sure he wouldn't be in the direct line of those antlers. He was a young deer; his antlers hadn't fully grown yet, but they were as sharp and as wound inflictable as any other set.

As Khal circled, he was practically silent. A rustle of leaves. Pause. More rustling. Pause. He made sure the deer didn't discover him, and he could sense that the creature was getting edgy. He needed to move now.

He was fast for an older wolf. In hardly a few seconds he was on the creature, and his jaw was around it's neck. He was experienced, and knew to hold on tight, and stay far from those antlers.

Noyama
An amused 'heh' sound came from Raja. Such a small noise surely wouldn't be heard over the grunts and other noises the deer was making as it struggled. He was good, her mind admitted to no one. Raja was always thankful no one could hear your thoughts.

Except those damn seer. Oh, how she hated them.

Sliding back a bit, she lowered before springing forward and dashing toward the deer. The routine was a common one she and her sister did, and it was nice that this stranger was a good replacement 'neck biter'.

With a clamp of her jaws she locked onto one of the kicking back legs. The deer fell with both wolves still attached. It was dead by time it hit the ground.

Something which obviously pleased Raja. She released the leg and stepped back. If eyes had been in her sockets, she'd have admired the kill. "Not bad."

Twiddle
Khaliki let go of the deers neck, licking the blood clean from his lips. "Not bad at all." He agreed, smiling. He admired the kill for a moment, before backing up and circling it to the other side. He was starving; but he wasn't sure of this females ranking nor her eating pattern just yet. He decided to stay his ground and let her eat first, just in case.

As he watched her, he wondered what happened to her to make her blind. Maybe she was born like that, he thought, And it's also not your business, so don't even think about it. He tore his eyes from her, and looked toward the kill, his stomach growling from the scent and sight.

Noyama
It took a lot of willpower, but Raja resisted smirking. How polite he was. She didn't consider it to be a good thing as far as health went. All the polite wolves she'd known had starved.

And, unless she was in a pack--which she wasn't---she considered herself rankless, as well as any other loner. The red female didn't think twice before stepping back and sitting a few paces away from the kill.

"Go ahead," she urged. If she was still hungry, she could kill something with Solan later, but she had a feeling he was alone. "It's Raja, by the way."

Twiddle
Khaliki watched her, cocking his head slightly. "Oh, no, you go." He said, even though his somach protested loudly. He smiled sheepishly. "Well... alright. But don't hesitate to join me" He said, and before he bit into the deer, he said, "I'm Khaliki." Then he took a large chunk of meat and began eating happily and eagerly.

When Khal had had his full, not even half the deer, he sat back on his haunches and began to lick the blood clean from his face and paws. "I haven't had a meal that good in a while." He said, though he seemed to be talking to himself more than her, though he hadn't forgotten she was there. "So, Raja, do youhave a pack?"

Noyama
A few moments after the other wolf had started eating, Raja, with a bit of a struggle, managed to rip the same leg she'd biten off. Legs were the best part, didn't you know?

She slid to the ground and ripped off the fur and skin, gnawing contently on the meat and listening to Khaliki. At first she merely shook his head. After swallowing the chunk of bloody meat in her jaws she snorted.

"Oh, no. I haven't for quite a while. We just roam about for the time being, my sister and I. I couldn't think of a reason pack wolves would be out so far, anyway."

Twiddle
Khal nodded as he finished cleaning himself off. He laid down, sighing pleasantly. He looked up at the stars, he often did, and watched them quietly for a few moments. "I'm not in one, either, as you've probably guessed." He said, his voice taking on a new tone. Sadness? Regret? Maybe a mixture of both. His eyes fell back down to her, and he smiled slightly.

"Not to sound like a complete idiot, but I'm glad I met you. I haven't really seen anyone for a while, and it's nice to have some company." He said, setting his head down on his paw as he watched her, sometimes looking to the sky, though looking back over to her not long after.

Noyama
Gnawgnawgnaw. The deer outside of this part of the woods weren't as good, Raja decided. She was debating over just hunting here when the other wolf was talking again.

The beta's jaws stopped moving and a low chuckle rose from her throat. Done with her meal, it seemed, as she nudged the half-devoured leg away and rose to all fours. "My dear," she began in an amuzed voice. "I'm not really the kind of company you should want to have."

The air was starting to get cool and the birds that only sang around this time were starting to blast their song through the trees. She should be getting back to Solan.

"I'm going," Raja told the other wolf, still sounding amused for some reason. She grinned over at him and bowed her head. "Perhaps I'll see you again."

And that was the last thing she had to say before bounding off in search of her sibling.

Twiddle
Khaliki watched as she left, surprised and a more than a little confused at the sudden leave. He sighed. Alone again. He watched her until he couldn't see her anymore, "Farewell." He said softly, and set his eyes back to the sky.

(Short, but it wraps things up. xD Thanks for the rp Noya! <3)

The dark wolf slowly strode through the forested area, his dark eyes searching boredly as he went. It had been what seemed like forever since he had come in contact with another wolf, or any animal for that matter. He wasn't sure why no one was around lately, maybe because the seasons were changing and they were going about their own business. He shrugged to himself as he walked, sitting beneath a large willow tree with a sigh.

Khaliki didn't mind being alone, but he craved company every once in a while. Any wolf would, unless they were rather strange in the head like some he had met. He smiled to himself at the thought. With another low sigh, he sniffed the air once. Nothing. He opened his mouth and closed his eyes, letting out a long, low and very sad howl, hoping someone would hear. At this point he'd like the company of an ant.

Furekatsu Anjiru
Springing foreward with delighted determination the growing pup dashed excitedly after a small green lizard as it scurried to avoid him. Green eyes cringed in glee as the small male attempted to keep a constant watch on where his repitillian prey would dispear to next. For Wyatt, life was a game. What else was there to do but play?

With a lurch he followed through with a not-so-perfectly planned pounce when his concentration was broken by a howl. The area was quite bountiful with wolves, much the his delight. Even his pack had many members he'd yet to meet. At the thought of this being one such case Wyatt happily trod through the brush in looking for the source of the howl. It hadn't exactly sounded playful and fun, but that didn't mean whoever had voiced it wasn't.

Emerging noisily from a thicket the pup stood proudly upon a rock and peered down the few feet until he spotted another wolf. Someone to play with!

Twiddle
Khalikis ears swiveled around, followed by his head, as he spotted a small pup looking down at him. He had expected an adult wolf to stop by, but hey, he wouldn't complain. He smiled up at the pup, chuckling a little at how he stood proudly atop the rock, like it was a throne.

"Greetings young pup. What are you up to? I don't think youngin's should travel all by their lonesome." He said, concerned a bit and glad the pup had found himself instead of a predator. "Come on over 'ere and sit by me. What's yer name?" He asked, his dark eyes shining. The old wolf always had a soft spot for pups.

Furekatsu Anjiru
(( *was watering the horse* Hey Dragon. ^^ ))

Had Wyatt been a lot less trusting he would have bothered to wonder if it was really such a good idea to go and sit ignorantly beside a strange wolf. But he didn't have a suspicious bone in his body. His face lit up.

"I was playing with a lizard!" Man that sounded cool. He didn't see why a pup would need to have someone with them unless they were doing something they weren't supposed to, which he wasn't. Atleast he didn't think so. Happily and with as much drama as he could muster the pup lept from his rock and swayed on his feet until he was completely balanced again. What a jump!

"My name's Wyatt. What's yours?" Oooh, he almost shivered. This soon to be friend said things funny. Thus, this would be a fun friend to have. He smiled and thumped his tail.

Twiddle
Khaliki laughed as the pup exclaimed his recent adventure. "Ooooh, was it a big lizard? I saw one a long time ago, tha' was so big it could 'ave eaten you 'live!" He said, and chomped his jaws down, imitating a lizard. He rolled his tongue in and out of his mouth quickly and grinned.

"My name is Khaliki, it'sa pleasure to meetcha son." He said with another smile, his own tail swishing back and forth behind him.

Furekatsu Anjiru
Wyatt's eyes went wide. A lizard that could eat him? Really eat him? Why would it do that? He watched the older wolf and gulped down a lump forming in his throat. Shaking his head he attempted an air of confidence. "Yah, it was bigger than you!"

Kinda, sorta, not quite. But wouldn't he sound strong if it was? Yep. He believed so. And for some reason lately that is how he wanted to appear. Strong, brave.

"Nice to meet you too." He cocked his head to the side before laying down and panting slightly from the noon heat. Perhaps Khaliki knew some interesting stories?

Twiddle
Khal widened his eyes in mock surprise. "Wow! That's a pretty big'un there." He said smiling. "I do believe your story beat mine purty badly son." He sighed in false sadness, then it turned back into a playful grin. "But that's alright, I'll just have to go and look for an even bigger one someday." He said with a wink. He chuckled, glad to have the pups company. Memories of his own youth floated into his mind, but he pushed them away for the time being.
