The cool air flitted over the streets of the city as Gaelie took a small walk. Today was technically 'payday' for the performers in their Troupe, tips aside. The performer usually took this time to visit the bank and put most of it away, then get something small as a treat with the rest. Usually this entailed a new article of clothing, or a piece for their tea set collection. Today, however, Gaelie had their eyes on another shop.
The Scent shop had been a small curiosity that they passed now and then but generally didn't enter or deal with. However, those days hadn't felt right for visiting it. This day did, and so after hitting the bank, the performer entered the shop, looking around at all of the wares quietly, hands behind their back.

Olivia had left the windows and doors to her quaint little shop open that day. After some unseasonably warm temperatures, a storm had passed through and brought with it some much needed cool air. It was absolutely beautiful, and Olivia found herself lost in thought as a breeze drifted through the store mixing together the different scents within.
It was only after a few moments of spacing out that Olivia noticed someone had come in and hurriedly got up from her seat behind the register's counter, her wooden stool rubbing against the wooden floors with a low squeak.
"Welcome to Solace Scents," Olivia said, mustering up a smile for the customer that had just come in, "If you'd like help with anything, pricing identifying an oil, or the like don't hesitate to ask."

At the greeting from the owner, Gaelie turned and smiled brightly. "Thank you, Miss. Though I'm just browsing at the moment," they explained with a light air to the statement. No reason to rush around or guess at what they might want - they'd figure it out eventually.
"However, if you have some suggestions for things, I am more than willing to listen."

"No problem," Olivia answered, a small smile on her face. "Take as much time as you need."
Picking an incense to burn in one's home was a delicate process after all. You had to be happy with the scent you purchased and made sure it was something that you wouldn't get sick of within a few days. Olivia noticed that seemed to be a common mistake when people came and purchased incense from her. They picked such strong Scents, but within several days they were back for something else because they simply could not stand it any longer. Some even tried to get refunds.
"Suggestions? Well...," Olivia began, contemplating for a moment before shaking her head, "It really depends. If you really want, I can suggest a few of our new arrivals, but it really depends on what you're drawn to. Oils last much longer than incense sticks, and waft throughout the home much faster. It should really be something that you, personally, will enjoy time after time."
"Are there any scents you like to smell again and again?" Olivia asked, "Like herbs, or even flowers?"

"I like tea," was about as much as Gaelie said on the matter but seemed content with the atmosphere in general. "But I make tea plenty so that's not really much help I assume."
Their eyes cast over the shelves slowly before eventually lighting on a particular one and walking over towards it.
"Do you have any you like personally?" This question seemed to be more conversational than for idea purposes - just curiosity and being friendly.

"We have plenty of tea based oils," Olivia smiled, "Teas are very easily made into oils, unlike some other ingredients, so they tend to come in quite the different varieties."
Olivia watched as Gaelie perused the selection they had, before one of the oils caught their eye and they made their way to it. It was kinda of nice that someone was just casually conversing with her instead of trying to get in and out of there as quickly as possible.
"Oh, me?" Olivia said, surprised by the question. She smiled warmly to herself remembering the events of several years ago that lead to the odd circumstance she lived with now.
"Yeah... We don't carry it anymore though," Olivia said quietly, "Peppermint. Our customers wanted something a little more out of the ordinary than plan peppermint. Uhm, I do like one in the back along the wall, though. Castor's Fall. It smells heavily of Basil and Sage. Makes me hungry."
She laughed as Gaelie peered at the Scent before her, "Would you like to know what it is?"

"Teas themselves already come in an astonishing variety so I wouldn't be surprised if you could run a shop purely on tea based scents," they commented off-handedly, bringing back the item in question so she could identify it.
"That seems strange that they'd dislike something like peppermint. It's a perfectly nice smell and not excessively foreign or potent for those not used to having strange smells around." It was another offhand comment - Gaelie seemed very at ease with everything around them.
"Certainly, it'd be nice to know what it is in case anyone asks."

"I thought it strange as well that many of my customers commented on peppermint being so plain, but considering many of my customers are close to my age, I guess they would rather not having something their grandmother's smell of daily," She said jokingly with a small chuckle.
Granted, Olivia loved peppermint for that exact sentiment. Her grandmother had peppermint candies that she loved to suck on day in and day out. It always made her smell like peppermint and the smell would comfort her whenever she was down. Whenever Ment walked through the door it was almost as if her grandmother had never left. Not that Ment could ever be like her grandmother, dear lord. If her grandmother saw what that boy wore she'd wonder how hard he was hit upside the head to make him think he was a girl.
"This one is called Samurai Chai." Olivia said with a smile, "A lovely chai smell with citruses, lavender and almonds. Anytime I take a whiff of it, I feel like I've regained all my strength."

"My grandmother smelt of olive oil because of her cooking." This comment held a wistful note before Gaelie smiled brighter once more, "But there's never been anything wrong in being reminded of family by a smell or a food."
Glancing over the item as it was described, they nodded, "That seems fine to keep around then."
