OK, so it's no secret that there are unwritten rules around POTS, as well as some questions that are asked more than they should be. So the POTS crew would like to ask everyone in POTS to post the unwritten rules that you can think of. Basically we hope to start putting them in the rulebook so that they are no longer unwritten.

Not only will this help fill in the missing rules making things a lot easier to keep track of (for new members as well as old) but it will bring up any unwritten rules that need further clarification.

Feel free to debate any of these unwritten rules, though we ask that you make a new thread in the debate forum for it if it is likely to spur a lot of discussion.

Again I will say it, there should be a rule written somewhere about taijutsu styles and kenjutsu styles having to have stage training posts and technique training separately, with no way to gain both through training in the stage no matter how high the posting requirement is.

My apologies, perhaps I misinterpreted or misread the previous post. are you saying something that says "you must can't count training posts for techniques and mastering the stage separately?"

Sorry, a couple of words got left out because my keyboard was acting fritzy. Basically according to Beatriz you can't learn a technique through stage training, you always have to train the amount of points for the stage first, and then train each technique seperately. It doesn't say that in any of the rules anywhere. It should probably be written.

Hmmm, well I think that what needs to be made clear is the difference between techniques and what I refer to as a maneuver. A technique would be a specific "move", much like a taijutsu technique, that is unique to practitioners of the style, and like jutsus, they must be learned separately from stage training. An example of this would the be chakra edge from the Mist Standard Style.

You then have maneuvers, which are essentially passive abilities, or movements learned through the training involved in each stage. An example would be the Path of the Thunder God, or Thoughtful Dodge from Butoukai Sono Raijin (my own personal style). These kinds of techniques don't need extra training, they are a part of learning the style, because they are something gained through the process of learning the style itself.

I remember one of the 'unwritten' rules being that you need to have a link to the training session in your profile to have properly 'learn' the jutsu. That will save new comers a TON of time. Unlike me... Having to dig through the forums to find them.

I don't know if this is "written" yet, nor did I check, just a suggestion.
