Once I finally finish the current uni course I'm in, I would like to learn how to speak Japanese fluently.
I'm already doing a Japanese course in my spare time, but I believe the learning is too slow and because we don't have any books, I can't go ahead.
The course I'm looking at is based entirely on Japanese and you learn the language, culture, history, tourism, teaching Japanese and modern day stuff and more. Then, if you get good marks, you get to go and study in Japan for 6 months in one of their universities.
To me it looks really interesting and I love learning about different cultures and different languages. However, because I am currently finishing off a four year uni course, not many people are too supporitive in me commiting myself to studies for another 3 years. Also at the end of the course, if you wish to go over to Japan, you automatically get accepted to the JET program (teach english to adults/students/tutoring etc, so have a guarenteed job over there)
Has anyone here done a uni/college/tafe course in language studies? I'm just wondering if the course would be worth doing, because at the moment, it would be out of pure interest.
I also have a copy of the level entry requirements (what you need to know to be a beginner, intermediate or advanced) and would study to try not to be in the beginner section because that course isn't as interesting, it's all the basics.
