So, how is this contest going to work?
To put it simply, you make avis and judges will judge them.
I suppose I should get into the finer details, though.
This contest is going to play out as a round-to-round single elimination. Each round will last between one and two weeks, the time period to be specified at the beginning of each round. There will be a certain theme assigned to each round, to which the avi you create will have to adhere. Some rounds will have more broad and general themes, while some rounds will have specific genres or subsections of each theme of which I will randomly be assigning each contestant via drawing from a hat.
Example: ---> If the theme for a round is "Pirates," everyone would make a pirate-y avi. ---> If the theme for a round is, say, different signs of the zodiac, I would randomly assign everyone to a specific zodiac sign around which to create an avi.
Once you create a Tektek/avi according to the theme of the round, the judging commences.
You can earn a total of 40 points from each judge, in the areas of Creativity/Originality, Aesthetics, and Loyalty to Theme. When submitting your entry for the round, you may include a small paragraph describing your inspiration behind your creation, your ideas, etc.; that way, the judges may have an easier time seeing what exactly you were trying to accomplish. (What do you want us to take special notice of? What are you most proud of in your entry?) However, if you feel that your entry is so amazingly fantastic that it just speaks for itself, no explanations are required.
While it is expected that everyone submits Tekteks, you will earn a few extra points to your total score for the round if you manage to create an actual avi to fit the theme of the round. This is at your discretion, however; make sure you have all the items necessary to make a high-quality avi for the round. Judges will not be lenient if you tell them you couldn't afford such-and-such item to complete your avi.
In the event we have a tie between first and/or last place for the round, a tiebreaker will ensue. The tiebreaker requires that those who are tied in scores will make an avi for me, according to my own list of specifications. Whichever I like best will win the tie breaker.
The first place entry in each round will receive an honorable mention and their entry will be displayed in the thread that holds the archives for each round. The entry that scores the lowest each round will be eliminated.
Prizes for this contest include: 1st Place -- 500k pure gold, or an item of equivalent worth 2nd Place -- 250k pure gold, or an item of equivalent worth

Rules for Everyone
o1. Obey Gaia ToS. No-brainer here.
o2. Be kind and courteous. Contestants who are mean and rude will be disqualified. Judges who are mean and rude will be removed from their position.
o3. Respect the work of others. AKA do not steal any avis used in this competition.
o4. I have the liberty to change the rules as I please. If major changes are made, I will send out a clan announcement.
o5. Judges cannot compete, contestants cannot be judges.

Contestant Rules
o1. You cannot ask judges for help. You may, however, bounce ideas off other contestants. Yeah, you guys are competing against one another, but I also encourage asking each other for help, especially if you get stuck.
o2. Adhere to all specifications for each round. No exceptions. Feel free to ask me questions if need be.
o3. Keep the judging criteria in mind when you make your avis. I don't want you guys to set yourselves up to fail.
o4. Submit your weekly entries by posting them in the thread.
o5. PM contestant applications to my mule account Kiernan Lalier.
o6. Don't miss the submission deadline for any round. Failing to submit in the time alotted is grounds for immediate disqualification, unless it is due to something like a real life emergency or whatnot. If that is the case, please contact me and we will work something out.

Judge Rules
o1. Please be as unbiased as possible when judging. Be honest and open-minded when critiquing entries.

o3. Please be prompt when submitting your judge's comments and critiques.
o4. Adhere to the judging guidelines.
o5. PM applications and judging critiques to my mule Kiernan Lalier.
o6. Once I have chosen you as a judge, I will discuss with you the "form" which you should use when evaluating entries.

Judging Guidelines
This guide is here for both judges and contestants to use as a reference. Judges, keep this criteria in mind while making your assessments. Contestants, be aware that this is what the judges are going to be looking for in your entries.
Creativity/Originality (20 pts.) This section critiques item usage, character, and originality. Are the items used too typical or cliche for the theme? Is the avi a unique portrayal of the theme? Can observers get a clear idea of a character or story from the avi presented?
Aesthetics (10 pts.) This section critiques the overall look and flow to the avi. Is it pleasing to the eye, or is it an eyesore? Is it balanced well from top to bottom? Does it have flow? Is there too much needless clutter?
Loyalty to Theme (10 pts.) This section critiques the avi's portrayal of the theme, in a more general sense than the originality and creativity section. Is the theme easily distinguished from the avi? Does the avi represent the theme well?

Let's meet our fabulous judges!
Username: Chibi Pierceye Mini-bio: I'm just your friendly neighborhood vice captain, as well as host and fellow judge to this contest. I dedicate my entire Gaia existence to making avis. I'm a 21-year-old English major with a minor in Education, and I work as a cashier/bookkeeper at a grocery store. That's about all I'll say for now. Avi-Making Style: My style is all over the place, to be honest; I tend to go out of my way to create avis using item combos and colours that aren't often used. My past avi archive can be found here, and my Tektek archive can be found here. Favourite types of avis: Anything that is well-balanced or avis that illustrate a kind of character. Least favourite types of avis: Super "kawaii DESU" avis. Judging style: I'm blunt, but I also offer suggestions for improvement.

Now, let's meet our contestants!
Username: GuardianJohn Mini-bio: Oh, there's not much to say about me. I'm just the guy who started this clan. No big deal. Avi-Making Style: I like to use darker colors and I try to introduce some complexity into them. They don't always match color-wise, but they typically conform to a theme. Favourite types of avis: Those with character over color-matching/ Least favourite types of avis: Those who equip everything of one color. Avi-Making strengths: Originality, some flexibility in obscure items Avi-Making weaknesses: Tendency to use black too much, clutter. Favourite thing about the clan: I like that there aren't a lot of us, but we're pretty close-knit.
