- Do you pay attention to the music in a video game? - Do you have a favorite video game soundtrack? - Do you think music is important while gaming?

One of the first things that grabs my attention in a game is the music. Maybe that's why I don't like shooters very much- there's not much music to be had. But I think depending on the type of game, music can be very critical. Much like with movies, it can be used to set a scene, or to bring your attention to something that's going on.
The best music I've heard in a game so far has to be the music from the God of War series. It's brilliantly composed, dramatic, and well- played. I have a playlist dedicated to epic classical pieces, about half of which is made up of GoW. Interesting fact: for the soundtrack to the third GoW, they doubled the brass section, which is why it feels like the world is ending every time you listen to it.

It would strongly depend on the game, but yeah with most games the music can either make or break the whole thing. The best example of that would be horror games which, just like horror movies, wouldn't be anywhere near as scary without the music.
As per my favorites....the halo series has a pretty good sound track, but my favorite would have to be Final Fantasy which has had some of the most enchanting adventure music ever (in my opinion)

Sticking with the main series: Nobuo Uematsu, Masashi Hamauzu, Junya Nakano, Naoshi Mizuta, Kumi Tanioka, (there are many more involved, but these are the main ones)

Other than Final Fantasy? He was involved with Blue Dragon and Super Smash Bros. Brawl but anything else is beyond my knowledge.
