I think the fact that you're branching out from the chibi anime stuff is great, and it looks like you're off to a good start, but there's some work to be done.
Your proportions aren't to bad, but they could use some work. If I get around to it, I'll find some links for you, but in the mean time, use a mirror and look at your own body as a reference.
You are also very conservative with your shading. Try darkening the shadows and adding more around the hair line and the cheeks to give the faces a more round, three dimensional. The bridges of the noses could also use more definition. Don't forget about highlights, either. It also looks like you are using the smudge tool to shade. Don't do that! I'm not an expert on digital art, but I know that that is NOT the way to do it.
Anyway, the skin on both of the people is stark white. Perhaps add a little color? That should also make it easier to highlight/shade. At least, it does for me.
Now for hair.
In both of the more realistic styles, you've drawn every hair strand by strand. Try drawing hair in larger chunks and rely more by the suggestion of shading and highlighting. Drawing every hair on the characters head looks sloppy and flat.
Overall, I like the style you are going for.
Just keep up the hard work, and you'll be good.

P.S. - I like the little chibis :3
They're pretty much cute.

First, she didn't make those chibis, those are the references for the pictures she drew. Am I right, Y o u r S e r e n a d e?
Second, if it's for the style she is using, why can't the skin be white? I think she made it that way on purpose. And what is wrong with using the smudge tool with her shading? There is no rule against that, just because other artists don't do it doesn't mean she can't..... I don't understand why you said that.

First, I still think that they are cute.
Second, she asked for feedback and comments, so I gave them.
It's easier to shade something with color, anyhow. She may be developing a style, but that doesn't mean that I have to agree with all of it or that all of it is 100% correct. That's why it's called DEVELOPING.
Lastly, the smudge tool looks sloppy and is generally corrected when seen in use. It makes things blurry and murky and it's just generally better overall for the art if you don't use it. It's sort of like the digital equivalent of smudging graphite with your finger.
That doesn't mean she has to listen and not use it. Honestly, though it would be nice if she liked all my suggestions, it wouldn't bother me one bit if there were things she didn't use.

I wasn't trying to be rude. I know you are helping by sugesting those things. I just figured you should tell someone how they can improve, not how they should create. I dunno, maybe I just understood what you were saying wrong. I'm sorry if I upset you.

Eh, no you didn't really upset me. I'm just used to the people in the PP who would have been trying to.
Sorry.
Anyway, that is honestly how I feel that she could improve. Perhaps I should have mentioned that layering the colors, as you would in a real painting is generally what would be told to her, but if she can find a way to make the smudge tool look good, by all means, she should go for it and the teach me how, ha. It would save time.
I also think that the stark flatness of the white is a little, well boring, so yeah. It's just personal things :/

Oh dear god...
First off, I don't really wanna be a part of this cause I never actually post on here, but if you two are really argueing for the #1 idiot of internet arguements, I feel a duty to step in.
Opinions were asked, and given. It's okay to try to sway a person's opinion, but not to blatently point out that they were wrong to make that opinion into a statement.

Personally, I don't like the style. It looks sloppy to me. The hair looks rushed and messy, and the noses and mouth don't seem to have been worked on at all. I feel like the artist could do a LOT better, especially looking at the eyes, which I think are VERY pretty.

Yeah, I understand that.
I agree, it's easier and looks better to do layering of colors for shading, but I don't think it's bad to use the smudge tool either. *shrugs*
I understand the white being boring for some people, but it's also a style so I don't mind.

I don't think we are arguing. We are just descusing our opinions, that's kind of what this guild is for.
