Cielle blinked and stifled a yawn as she stretched out on the warm dry sand. The sun overhead shown brightly and she was glad that she had seeked shelter in the shade underneath a palm tree. Drowsiness giving way, she laid her head on her outstretched paws as she watched the sweltering heat morph the shape of the oasis. She sighed softly as she closed her eyes. It seemed like only several days ago that she had been accompanied by her children in their walk through the desert, and only a few minutes ago that the found this oasis, but her children were big now. They didn't need her constant watch and protection. Part of her felt happy for them, but part of her felt a pang of guilt for not asking them to say. She missed them terribly, but a mother had to do what was best for her children, which was letting them go.
