It was very peaceful. The skies had only just ceased to rain, and in the distance were indications of sunlight breaking through the clouds. The air was crisp, only a little cold with the steadily waning hours. Perfect weather to see what had been unearthed in the passing of the storm. Shifting the bag on his shoulder, Ran moved the long thread of grass from one side of his mouth to the other and began his walk toward the edge of the woods.

He was armed with only a sharp, wooden spear, some water, a few uncooked vegetables and his trusty hunting dog. The shiba inu was content to trot by his side, ever vigilant (and prepared to snag whatever his master may have dropped along the way). It was a rare "free" day, one where he found he had no pressing obligations or anything tying him down to one particular place.

It felt good. He didn't want to be too optimistic, but today felt like it was going to be fairly decent. As he admired the view of the mountains, his concentration was broken by the sudden, low growl of Seta.

Ran cast his eyes down at his dog curiously, then up to the edge of the woods. It was then that he noticed it, too; whatever Seta was growling at, it was approaching, and fast. He gripped the spear at his side and prepared for the worst.

What came crashing through the trees was not a bear, nor was it even a deer; no, it was... a Lunarian? Startled but intrigued, Ran kept his weapon lifted but eyed the male with intense curiosity. It wasn't often that people wandered into the wilderness alone, not unless they had a purpose. Whoever this man was, he was certainly...

... manly.

Ran couldn't help but gawk at what stood out proudly from the man's gruff face: possibly the best beard he had seen on anyone other than his own father (although, no beard could cross swords with his father's beard). It was magnificent. Rugged. Untamed. Ran was practically green with envy, and thoroughly distracted.

Seta was not so easily lulled into a sense of complacency. He was barking wildly at the newcomer, hair bristled like a great mane in a line down his back. After a sharp noise from his master, however, he quieted to a dull roar and begrudgingly stood by Ran's feet, teeth still bared but otherwise contained for the time being.

After what felt like years of beard appreciating, Ran blinked and lowered his weapon. He tried to then register exactly what he was seeing in front of him (because it wasn't just a shining beard, after all).

He cleared his throat, ummed a little, and finally found a proper greeting for this strange, wild man:

"Your facial hair is amazing." he said in awe, his tone revealing his only true concern at the moment.

Who cared if there was a strange man rummaging through the woods?

Who cared which side he was on?

He had a beard and it was awesome. End of story.

Bataar had been roaming the forests of Lunaria for a few weeks now, having set up his yurt near a small pond somewhere around the center of the treed area. Out here, it was just man and beast and over the time he'd stayed he had managed to actually take on the appearance of the latter. He had been instructed to experiment with survival training following he and his mens' trouble during a recent mission-- involving rabid bears picking a few of his group off among a strange jungle --and Bat was now forced to go on his own to some wooded area in order to learn bear avoidance as well as to accept the idea that edible things besides meat existed in the world.

The Mongolian man still refused to eat anything green, but in the time he had remained here he had grown an impressive amount of facial hair(he couldn't wait to show Jianyu!) and had sliced and diced plenty of large animals, having treated them as if they were opponents. The only truly depressing thing about this place was that there was a lack of rats and a lack of talking punching bags, he supposed.

Today he was in search of a tiger(he'd never seen one, nor did he know of their habitats, but he suspected that there must be one around here and he wanted a new rug inside of his yurt) and had nearly reached the outskirts of the forest. The foliage had thinned out considerably, but he still crashed about, which was probably why he had not once been able to trap or kill a small animal-- most within a one-mile radius were sure to have been in hiding. Still, they didn't matter because Bataar absolutely needed a tiger skin rug!

It was at this point in his thoughts that he registered the presence of another Lunarian quite nearby. The Mongolian man looked up, momentarily alarmed, but quickly schooled his expression into a picture of manliness. Needless to say, his practiced expression didn't last long as he spotted the very creature he'd been searching for-- a damned tiger, right in front of him!

As much as he was pleased by the compliment, he had to warn this young man of the danger he was in! Tigers bit people and then ate them! "DON'T MOVE!" Bat bellowed, unsheathing his sword and staring the dog down dramatically. ******** tiger! He'd taken care of it immediately! "It's right behind you! The--the tiger!" he declared excitedly, eyeing the creature's fur lustily. He faintly remembered that tigers ought to be striped, but this would also make a fantastic rug.

But... "Y'think so? I mean-- this took me a while to grow and all." Bataar could maybe kill the tiger in a moment or two. It didn't appear to be running away or attacking, at least. His rug could wait. He couldn't ignore the comment about his facial hair any longer!
