Hildegard strode through the town, its inhabitants wandering into the center of the town at her arrival. Of course, it was at the sword point of her Vanguard.
The village Elder, a tall, white haired man strode forward from the crowd. "What is the meaning of this?" he demanded. His hand rested on a great sword sitting on his waist.
"The meaning?" Hildegard asked, incredulously. "Simple. You're joining my army."
"We will have none of that, hag." he intoned powerfully.
"You may not have any of it but ask your people. I'm sure they will appreciate the food, the treasure and whatever else we may come across." she asked casually. "Or..." Hildegard gave a wicked grin.
She reached forward with a gauntlet and drew a burning rune into the air, the magics swirling the snow around her feet as she exerted her powers. The old warrior drew his sword and charged at Hildegard.
He took two steps before the following things happened. The third step had the moisture on his body explode into steam as he erupted into flames, screaming in surprise and agony. The fourth step had the second rune's effect take place. That is to say, everything iron or had iron it was ripped away from his body and scattered around him.
The corpse hit the ground, ashed and surrounded by a halo of blood.
"So! Any objections or do I need to make more examples?" she giggled.
