Omega's take over had been swift. As Champion, Wallace was the greatest heretic in Hoenn and the price placed on his head was enough to turn anyone against him. Against his better judgement, Wallace returned to his home of Sootopolis, hoping to incite a rebellion against the Omega strong-hold that had overpowered the city.
But by the time Wallace returned, the once beautiful city lay in charred ruins. The few buildings that still stood housed embittered inhabitants had already turned on the Champion. Where had he been when the city had burned? Where had he been when their children died?
Shamed, Wallace decided to leave the city, leaving his Whiscash, Philipe, with his old mentor, Juan. However, Omega had already been alerted to his whereabouts and Wallace had to flee from the on-coming battalion.
As he fled across the ocean on the back of his Milotic, Eleanor, Omega began to surround him. The attacks started flying in amongst gun fire that was aiming to kill. He managed to reach Mossdeep unscathed, however they were far from safe. Wallace took a stand on the shores of the island, quelling the wrath of his attackers' pokemon.
Finally, the battle appeared won and Wallace took to the back of his Swanna, Marie. However, Eleanor refused to be returned to her Pokeball.
Exhausted, Wallace had failed to notice that one Omega grunt had survived. The Omega grunt took a shot at Wallace and the bullet would have killed him if Eleanor had not taken the hit instead.
The death of the very first Pokemon he owned has had a huge effect on Wallace. He is not his once exuberant self and has turned in on himself. He is prone to fits of extreme sullenness and anger.
