A place to rest one's head. Thousands of apartments clustered together yet despite this cluster the rooms hold beautiful decor. Usually houses more Shinobi than regular citizens.

The long-since lit flame flickered about, the candle-light causing the shadows around the room to dance about as well. In the center of the room, a young girl with a pink hood covering her head strained her eyes in the dim light to read the text on the scroll in front of her. Without even thinking, she reached into her robe, pulling forth a pair of reading glasses, to which she opened and prepared to stick on her face. She stopped herself, however, when she realized what she was doing. "Nuisances..."
The girl closed the glasses, and stuck them back in her robe. It might of been pride or embarrassment that caused her to put the spectacles away, but no doubt that reading in this low lighting situation would only make her vision worse. Moving the scroll off to the side, Shizu Arashi pushed her desk aside as well, preparing to utilize the genjutsu she had been taught months ago. It was in her attempts to enhance the power and range of the genjutsu, which was why she was studying in this dark room, rather than going outside in the sunlight. That was something else, too. This girl, Shizu, didn't prefer daylight. In truth, she was a true kunoichi - One who wished to hunt in the night. After pushing the desk and other pieces of furniture aside, Shizu began to form handsigns to enact her special genjutsu on herself. Since there was no one she knew personally who would undergo such torture, she really had no guinea pigs to practice on. Her own mind would be the victim, but as long as she knew that this was a genjutsu she made herself, there would be no problems, correct?

                                                                  "Yuurei Obake!"

At the sound of the jutsu's activation, the candles in each corner of the room flickered out, causing the room to dive into pitch black. The girl was so frightened at the sudden darkness that she let out a scream, immediately clamping both hands over her mouth when she realized that there was nothing to fear. Did the genjutsu really extinguish the candlelight? No, it had to all be in her head. Maybe she just left the window open. For a few moments, the girl didn't move an inch. When all seemed quiet, she stood up and walked over to the corner of the room, preparing to turn on the light switch that would turn on the overhead lights in her apartment. Maybe she had formed the wrong handsigns? Perhaps used too little chakra?

It wasn't until her finger neared the lightswitch that Shizu paused, her eyes widening in horror. Behind her, at the far wall of the room, did she hear a small thumping sound. It was as if something had knocked once on the wall. Slowly turning around, she faced the direction of the sound, tearing her concentration away from flipping the lightswitch. For at least a minute, nothing happened. Wondering if the frightening sound was a mere product of her own imagination, the pink-haired girl took a step towards the middle of the room, her heartbeat slowing to normal. Calling out audibly, she attempted to put her fears to rest by receiving no answer.
                                                                  "H-hello? Is someone there?"

Still no answer. Shizu was perfectly content with leaving the mystery unsolved, but as she turned her head to reach for the light switch, a voice spoke, hissing the words rather than simply saying them. The voice spoke at different pitches and volumes, causing her to cringe with each horrifying alteration.
                                                                  User Image
Three serpents, each with two rows of razor sharp teeth, began to slither towards Shizu. All three serpents were glowing different colors, one glowing an emerald green, while another's aura misted a sapphire blue. The third serpent, the one which slithered towards Shizu directly, emanated a fearful shade of dark-yellow. The creature's eyes bore no pupils, only sclera of each's individual color. The creature's continued to speak at random pitches, each spouting some horrid, hateful obscenities. Shizu, unable to cope with the fear, blacked out...

                                                                  ***

By the time morning came, the apparitions had gone. The girl deduced that she had fallen under the spell of her own genjutsu, and at the same time, had succumbed to it. After gathering her bearings, she took a shower, trying to shake off the horrifying feeling that the creatures had laid onto her. Within an hour's time, the girl was dressed and ready to leave her apartment for the first time this week. It wasn't like her, but she wanted nothing more to get away from her apartment at the moment. Locking the door, the girl departed with a quickened pace towards the village's market.

Musique >>> The Mystic's Dream

Yuurei Obake (Ghost Phantom)
At the time the jutsu is activated, a ghostly phantom will appear and distract the enemy. The appearance of the phantom will change with each scenario. This Genjutsu is weakest in a bright setting, so it will not work if the sunlight is shining. The jutsu works in the shadows, fog, mist, rain, or any other scenario that is dim and can allow for tricks of the mind to appear. The phantom will never appear to be attacking the enemy, but will speak to them or move in such a way as to be a distraction.
