"Figure skating," Mint said, clearly of the opinion that figure skating was superior to any of the other sports he didn't name.
"And what, do you mean I'm my own person? They have doctor-sorts. We're locked up in here. I don't have someone to vouch for me on the outside. No one's coming to get me. I'm stuck here. That's what they told me." It was clear he didn't quite get the concept of independence. He was used to someone, somewhere, looking after his schedule and decisions.
"It was a metaphor, with the stage. I'm more concerned about not being able to take the costume off. Not that it looks bad. It looks good on you definitely, I think."

Figure...skating? Vaporeon looked Mint up and down carefully. "You mean you do the dancing on the ice?" His tail curled around his leg as he imagined how Mint must have looked sliding around on ice. He imagined it must have been as relaxing and enjoyable as swimming in a river or lake even. Vaporeons lips pulled upwards a little. "That seems like a rather fun sport." Fun or not though...Mint did have a bit of a point.
They were locked inside and were not allowed to leave. Vaporeon's head bowed slightly. "I can understand your situation." He replied. "You were put here because there is no use for you now. I am sorry to hear that. It may not be so bad though. My brother is rather happy with the change. I have not looked through the entire place yet either so...maybe you can enjoy yourself here too? I wasn't very used to leaving the facility anyways, they were afraid that too much outside influence would cause me to run away I think."
Vaporeon's lips pulled upwards and he flipped his bangs from his eyes with one hand. "You don't think I look too odd huh? Well, you look rather nice to me too. Your very..hmmm...sparkly I guess?"

"Yes, dancing," Mint said, pleased that he didn't have to affirm it was a sport, either. He liked Vaporeon, he decided. He was good-looking without being too good-looking, and reminded him vaguely of his fans.
They'd be worried about him, surely?
He looked ruffled at the no use for him line, although he suspected Vaporeon was projecting. "The glitter catches the light. Not so sure how useful that is now. I don't know what kind of people will notice me in here. I suppose I don't mind if they're like you. ...Are they like you?"

He seemed to have made Mint happy. That was oddly easy enough if he thought about it. At least it didn't require too much thought hmm? Vaporeon turned towards the door and shifted off a step so he was no longer in the mirror with Mint. His tail curled, almost in a beckoning manner as he walked along.
"There are all sorts here. I can't say there are many like me. I've listened a lot, but haven't heard many good things. Haunter is off scaring people and stirring up trouble. I've heard rumors the doctors here will tear you apart for no reason. I've seen a very strange woman who seems broken. I mean, you could see it in her eyes." Vaporeon turned to look at Mint and he managed a half smile.
"Since your so sparkly, maybe you can manage to charm a few girls, that way you have some protection by means of numbers. Girls like good looking guys, and your an athlete. They like those too."

Mint gave a last look to the filthy bathrooms, not too reluctant to leave them, and followed Vaporeon. The news about the doctors and other patients was...disturbing. He wasn't sure if it was just rumors, or if they really...tore people apart in here. Nothing seemed too far-fetched. In the dire situation, romance was the furthest thing from his mind.
"Oh, I don't know," he said, suddenly shy. "I didn't have much time for that sort of thing before." He added hastily, "I could have if I wanted to, of course. I was just- busy..." Too busy for friends or girlfriends or much of anything besides the rink. Winning was his life. He felt like his life was officially over.

Vaporeon tucked his hands into his pockets and wandered down the hall towards a particular hallway. "Really?" He found himself surprised as he looked at Mint. "Did you have to train too much then?" He supposed that made some sense. Mint was so upset over that single point, he guessed the other probably trained all the harder to make up for it. Vaporeon could not imagine putting that much effort into his own training. He either did well or he did not.
Of course, it was that way of thinking that had ended up sending him here. He wasn't ambitious enough for those who were using him. He had no interest in keeping or stealing secrets. "Maybe we can find some nice girls here to talk to. It's not like we have any plans for the future right?" Vaporeon stopped at a corner and ran his hand through his long bangs to fluff them. A faint smile curled at his lips. "I..am sorry. I'm using the word We. I'm sure you have other plans. I'm just so used to working as a pair."

"Of course I trained! You can't be the best if you don't put in the time. I only compete in singles. I don't need to waste time compensating for a partner." He said the words in a cool monotone, as if he'd said them a hundred times before.
He looked at Vaporeon, hesitated, and revised, "...I don't mean you. I had plans, before. Now I...don't know what I have."

So...Mint was a solo player. Vaporeon's ears dropped a little as he listened to the other speak so condescending like. "That makes sense... I understand it." He replied softly. "Haunter was always the one carrying me through our exercises. He probably would have done better without a dead weight like me. I did my best but it really wasn't good enough. I bet you were fantastic because you worked alone." He managed a small smile. Perhaps Haunter would have been more focused if he hadn't been distracted by whatever he had been doing.
Vaporeon glanced down the hall, then lifted his hand and pointed. "I cleaned out a room down here. If...you want to sit somewhere and think about what you want to do you could do it there. It's kinda small. I didn't want tot ake a big room that someone else would have a better use for."

"I don't know about..." Mint started, about to comment on the whole dead weight business, but was instantly steered from the subject with visible excitement "The rooms!" Mint said, turning to Vaporeon. "You found them. How did you find them! I spent last night wandering around the Courtyard scuffling with some dog-thing because I couldn't find them!"
Alright, so the rooms were awful, and unfurnished. ...And awful. But so was everything else here. Sort of clean was better than years of layers of filth.

Mint's sudden excitement caused Vaporeon's fins to flick out a little in slight surprise. So much...eagerness. All over rooms? Vaporeon began to walk down the hall slowly. His tail reached up to try and curl around Mint's arm as if to lead him along like a gentleman offering his arm.
"I did not find them. Haunter did. My brother is useful. More useful then me. he can walk through the walls. He checks in on me, so if you hang around you will probably see him. I should warn you. He's a odd duck." Vaporeon turned to look at Mint and murmured. "He has a bad habit of licking."
Vaporeon led Mint to the sparse room. A tiny window with bars criss crossing it allowed a thin beam of natural light to filter into the room. A rug was folded against one wall to provide a sort of sleeping space. All else was empty. Vaporeon made a small gesture towards the window. "I almost have a view. All I can see is the sky though."

Mint jumped at the very unfamiliar feeling of a wet, rubbery tail curling around his arm. "What- oh. It's you," he said, seeing the blue. He wasn't sure why blue translated so easily to friendly for him, but it did. Vaporeon's tail was much bigger than his, but it wasn't threatening to crush him or drag him anywhere, and the touch was... well, gentlemanly.
Mint moved to take the lead anyway, walking around the room with a critical eye and Vaporeon still in tow.
"Licking, really? ...I'd like to see him try," Mint said, entire temperature dropping at the thought. He stopped by the window Vaporeon gestured to. A sky was not a view. What kind of views had Vaporeon been used to? "Well!" He said, spinning and giving the room a final analysis. "It will do for now." Better than the Bathroom or Hallways, anyway.

Vaporeon was unaware of the small start he'd given to Mint. Nor was he aware of how the other was currently feeling at the moment. He merely glanced at his current company and stepped to the side without hesitation when Mint saw fit to take the fore. Vaporeon did not have any second thoughts over the other boy taking charge, it just seemed more logical?
"He probably will." He warned Mint. "He licks everyone. He has licked me for years." He felt the urge to forewarn him properly. Though the feeling of cold that came he left out. Somehow he did not see cold being a problem for Mint at all. His tail swayed back and forth slowly while he waited for Mint to make his decision. It made him feel a little more at ease hearing that Mint was agreeable to staying in the room with him.
"I hear that people can find things around here. So maybe we can make the place a bit better if we find something? I have that rug there that I've been using to sleep on. It's only mildly more comfortable then the bare floor. I cleaned the place out fairly well." Vaporeon turned to look at the cleaned stone walls.
"I can create water and just blasted the place clean."
