If this Guild is to be brought back from the dead, there must be much effort put in by the guild members. Even if all it is, is Ideas to help.

My Idea would be to clean out anything that has been untouched for a while. Find a few new "attractions", then have a GOFD 'reopening' extravaganza!!!

Yea, I've been thinking about cleaning this place up a bit. What do you have in mind for the "reopening extravaganza"?

some sort of gathering to celebrate it's resurrection. Like a get together in the towns somewhere. with some minor contests. Or something like that.

Revival party thread perhaps? Throw in some cheap party favors for attendance. I'm willing to do a photoshop group photo to commemorate the event. Having a chance to be a part of something like that may help get some community spirit going on.
Also, does this guild have a mule acting as a bank? Contests are always an effective way of pulling people into a guild and participating. But the guild will need a mule that can accept donations to fund the prizes. I've already seen elsewhere that the captain isn't rich, so this would have to be a group effort to make it happen.

Additional suggestions:
Lose the dead weight. There are a ton of members on the list that have never posted. This may be because many posts were wiped, but still, it only takes so long to get back into action. If the community is full of people with zero post counts that aren't contributing anything, it makes the place look dead, and that is going to discourage newer members from getting active.
Secondly, how about having a sticky dedicated to pointing out noteworthy threads. Perhaps a good discussion is going on in a subject someone might not normally look at. Let's help the hidden gems shine as an example of what this guild is capable of, and hopefully let some of the stronger posters act as an example in this manner.

well for starters? you should clean up the 3 pages of people who have zero postings, another thing that you can use an empty Sub-Forum make it into a Hall of Fame for your Guild,
Guilds are hard to bring back to life when were is only 1 person doing all the work, so promotes are good if you need an extra hand.

The easy answer to this problem is to have someone cast "Resurrection." Mostly likely a WOW Priest. But He/she might not like the idea that we are coming back from the dead and may just smite us instead. 0, 0 ..... ..... ..... not as easy as i first thought.
